It was a nailed on certainty that the Football League would yet again prove its ineptitude of dealing with cheats and financial-mis management. How can football survive whilst the so-called management of the FL is run by folk who could nt run a 'drinking session in a brewery'. What a message it sends to other clubs who try to run a 'fit & proper' organisation...I do hope we win on Sat. to spoil their party....if there was ever a call for justice.....etc etc...
Cheers, GT

Couldn't agree more Gareth. I bet JR is pretty disgusted too.

Hope Motherwell get their money sooner rather than later - Cardiff should not, and neither should anyone else for that matter, be allowed to sign players when they still owe money for players previously bought!

About what exactly?

Despite the (apparent) injustice, Cardiff have not defaulted on their debts, they haven't filed for bankruptcy and are proving to be capable of settling with their creditors. The current figure is somewhere in the region of £25m, which is about the same as the debt carried by the Owls.

However, do I think the importing of players from the Premiership and the wages being paid by the parent club is wrong? Hell yes!

Cardiff still owe Motherwell £175,000 for the transfer of Paul Quinn in July 2009 and the Scottish club's chief executive, Leeann Dempster, was publically critical of Cardiff's recent signings.
\"They [Cardiff] have signed a high-profile player, which has really annoyed us,\" Dempster said this week. \"They should have their debts settled from last year before they are allowed to sign any players.\"
Motherwell are waiting on a formal arrangement, but on Thursday the Scottish club revealed that they expect Cardiff to honour their debt in full by next Tuesday - as promised by Cardiff chief executive Gethin Jenkins this week.
And Motherwell could receive an instalment by Friday morning with the remainder paid off next week.
Cardiff failed to pay £100,000 due to the Fir Park club in January and a further £75,000 summer payment has also not been forthcoming.

That's why.

Football is all about cheating - Cardiff are just another set of cheats. Nobody will do anything about it so where's the problem?

That's why?? Are you sure?

So, you suggest that we should get a petition up to the Football League because Cardiff missed a payment or two to Motherwell over a transferred player? Do me a favour! Let me just balance this situation a little and you might not be so sympathetic to little old Motherwell, if that's who you feel sorry for.

Firstly, Motherwell were promised complete payment by the end of this month, and if you read your quote exactly you'll see that this is confirmed.

Secondly, the Chairman of Motherwell is a certain John Boyle, who did own an airline called Zoom until it went bust owing thousands to passengers and employees. Thirdly, this same man ran up debts of over £8m with Motherwell about 8 years ago (remember?), who then was happy to take the club into receivership, tore up players contracts, defaulted on his debts and started all over again. There is a word (or two) to describe somebody like this, a hypocrite!

said this before i cant see the problem with what cardiff are doing as its within the laws of the game that stand today by
all accounts,so let them get on with it ffs.

if it was drfc doing the exact same going through what cardiff have done and are now doing i doubt there be any rovers fans
shouting from the roof tops their disgust

infact football fans will in general back their teams antics to the hilt for sure.

live and let live

Well may be I'm old fashioned but the Cardiff situation highlights what is bad about football and the authorities that have stood by and let bad practice win the day.

Would it be a better system if clubs who failed to meet payment deadlines were called to book, before taking on any further debt ?

I'm not blaming the clubs I'm blaming the weak Football League. May be if a tougher stance were taken, then control on finances would be in a much better state.

Although  I hope we dont have any debt,we are living way beyond our means arent we?
Am I right in thinking our directors have deposited a couple of million to balance the books again

The sooner we are self-sufficient the better.

Football and money really gets my goat and it bludy scares me.
There will be loads more Portsmouths before long and if Sky said goodbye god knows what would happen!
