James Coppinger will make a deadline day move to Blackpool.

As part of the deal, Blackpool will loan Ishmael Demontagnac to Doncaster.

On the Richie Wellens thing I think we've moved on and found a better replacement in Oster. Richie for all his talent, and possibly being perhaps a tougher kind of player, Oster gets us moving forward better.

Yeh a much better player and a more than able replacement, and lets face it, Wellens isnt exactly pulling any trees up in a team that would have been tipped for great things this season.I never thought that SOD would replace him with a better player, but........in SOD  we trust :)

Imagine wellens in the middle again though smashing people about would have him back in a heartbeat, imagine how good we would be then. IN the midfield as probably the only thing we miss from midfield is someone who really hits people hard and there aren't many better at that then richie. I still remember the first thing he did in a rovers shirt a massive scything tackle on the Retford centre half. Get him back and con leicester to pay the difference in his wage.

was at work so couldn't go to  yesterdays game but out of the midfield from what i'vr seen this season the two away games and bristol, I think Woods would have to be the one who would step aside. I know he has his fans but wellens would add something missing and woods mainly fetches somthing that both oster and stock bring in spades

Anyone who wouldn't have Wellens back here is kidding themselves.

I doubt he'd come back here though, unfortunately.

Woods was superb yesterday.

Wellens at his very best would not have dislodged Woods, Oster or Coppinger on yesterday's form, and Gillet is looking more the part every week.

In fact, given that the overall performance was quite sublime, with the Hull players frequently looking like those painted Blobby types in the New Order True Faith video* (i.e. having their faces slapped whichever way they turned round) it was particularly pleasing that Stock and Sharp were the least effective of the forward 6. If we get yon two firing an all, we might do alright.

(* 'course, in the case of Ian Ashbee, he'd have to lose a couple of stone before the comparison with the blobbies would be apt.)

wellens would walk back into our team.i think people tend to get bitter when talking about ex rovers players.
wellens would get in the team before gillet for me everytime.
that dosent mean i dont rate gillet because i do.

Wellens will be 31 this season, Simon will be 25 in November.

I know who'd I'd rather have.

Both?  ;)

People seem to get a bit hung up by signing a player and who's place he will take therefore is he needed whereas to go up you need more than a good first 11. A good first 11 got us to the brink of the play-offs last season but we stalled - a bit part of it seemingly due to SODs seasonality and some of it due to players out of form/fitness. To take the next step we need to do the very hard task of finding a couple more players of the same quality as the first 11 and then keeping them all happy when a couple have to take a spell on the bench.

So that's why I would have RW back. But I don't see it happening. He left for a 4 year contract that was too good to refuse and I doubt we could/would match that given SOD could probably pay the wages of another Woods and another Gillett with that money.

All this rubbish about Stock and his performance, with other players who are better at going forward Stock has to do a holding role and does it very well. Its not a flashy role and won't get him noticed as much, but someone has to do it. As for Wellens coming back ,can't see the point of it. When he played for us he was allowed to be flashy as other players were chasing around and the donkey work for him. Let us not forget how high we finished without him last season and i believe if he had played we would have finished lower.

Wellens lacked consistency for me, when on form he was excellent, but never saw him as first name on the team sheet. As for now, in my opinion he would struggle a little to make our midfield. Gillett has been excellent up to now, & is more workmanlike than Richie, Woods gives us a left sided balance & gets better each game, Stock picks himself even though he has had an average start, & there is not a chance he would replace Oster. Would he improve the squad? without a doubt. Automatic choice? not for me.

Stocks back injury worries me though. Its surfaced again causing him to pull out of the Wales squad. My mate, who's a Leeds fan, said Wellens ran the show against them the other week. I'd struggle to choose between them to be honest.

I would have Wellens back tomorrow.

I'll stand corrected but I've only ever heard our management/chairman come out publicly and say they have missed players that have left, for 2 players. Wellens was one and the other was Mills.

SOD/ROK/JR would have kept these if possible, and no doubt Roberts. The rest I wouldn't like to say.
