Our Wage bill
« on September 02, 2010, 07:55:26 pm by MrFrost »
So JR says the budget for wages this seaosn is 7 million and we have reached that.

What was it last season?
As last year we had a bigger squad, and we had the likes of Sharp (who's wages we were paying while he was on loan) Shackell, JET etc.

I fail to see how our wage bill has increased.

Totally clutching at straws here but getting our existing players to sign new contracts would have probably cost a small fortune.I imagine Oster is on a lot more than last years temp contract.
Plus a lot of players out of contract this year so money will need to be set aside for them to re-sign?!

Like I said im only guessing though :S

We must be paying alot of players more than they are worth.

Its the only answer that makes sense really.

All estimates, some generous, most seem reasonable. The non playing staff must be on a decent wage?

The wage bill will always be difficult to predict. It rose sharply when we sold Wellens and Mills, only brought in a few trialists on short term deals and awarded no new contracts.

We might need to stretch it a bit more soon. It is absolutely vital that we get the likes of Copps, JOC and Stock to extend their contracts.

I think that's where the rest of the budget has gone- or has been allocated anyway.

I'm not too bothered about new signings- as I think what we have is very good indeed. So long as we can bring in the odd short-term loan to cover for injuries, we'll be fine.

And if we're in the top ten at the turn of the year, I have a feeling a few more funds will be found from somewhere!

Is this 'wage budget' simply that for the players? Or does it also cover all the other staff? SOD? ROK? Physios? Cooks? Admin generally? Marketing??!!

If it covers those as well then that'll be a sizeable chunk just on none playing staff.
