Why Are We On BBC2?

We're on BBC2 because it's bloody brilliant.
Fighting against a half empty stadium, a second half that was just an intelligent 3 points in the bag keep em out type performance and, \"good grief its a 3 hour drive back to London\" for Colin - it was brilliant coverage. The BBC had done all the groundwork and bothered to film the build up stuff thursday/Friday. They did loads of great little fill-ins and I'm bloody proud that the premier broadcasting corporation in the world is spending my (tiny) bit of money on this kind of 'community' coverage. Johns bit at half time (OK a bit repetitive - you were in the conference only 6 years ago, what a diamond story) always gets me like any decent political speech though.
Colin Murray is bloody ace - you can imagine having a decent chat with him about his favourite Smiths track or views on the Pixies reforming - and he can do football like he's a proper fan as well as a whizzy presenter. The BBC is a fragile, desperately brilliant chink of genius that we need to hang on to - you never know how brilliant something is until it's gone....
Bit of a drab second half but that was a well thought out rock solid performance. First half was tremendous stuff. Top dollar performance DRFC and BBC.
PS. I'm a 360 mile round trip to the KM - that's why I watched it on telly.

Martin Keown was very complimentory about us but Claridge just comes across like he hates having to acknowledge that we are a decent outfit.

Agreed about the BBC. The Football League Show is a bit crummy, and they always get things wrong on their website. But when they do a proper job and put it in the hands of the A team as it were, it's better than the cliché ridden Sky coverage, and is a million times better than anything that ITV have ever produced.

Agree about Colin Murray too. He's a good presenter and knows what he's on about.

I was at the game today, but I'm just watching some of it back (Sky plussed it,) and I'm impressed by the coverage. I expected it to be all about Sheffield United, but they seem to be very complimentary about us, and know a fair bit about the club's recent history.

Being picky - they referred to us as Doncaster United once, and said that Jimmy O'Connor followed Sean O'D to Belle Vue ......

I really enjoyed the coverage (as well as our performance) too. There was plenty to be picky about, but they were very complimentary about us. There was no doubt they saw us as the better team and that this is how we play, not a one-off. Shame it was hidden away on BBC2, but I hope it will have made a few people realise what they've been missing. My brother has lived in the North East and has been supporting some team who copied their kit off Grimsby Town for a long time now. He's now asked me to pick out a good fixture for him to come and see live. I'm sure he won't be the only one. I only have a hundred mile round trip to see Rovers live, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see us live on BBC for the first time and wouldn't have missed it for anything.

Am I the only one who doesnt like Colin Murray?

He is up there with Chiles, Motson and Craig fooking Burley when it comes to the irritating t**t award.

He presents with enthusiasm and I'd rather have his Northern Irish accent than Chiles' Brummie drawl any day! But then I'd have put up with Paul effin' Daniels if it meant Rovers on the telly!

I quite like Colin Murray too. Not the most cliched, polished media darling of a presenter but that's a positive for me. He's a bloke who likes football, indie music, poker and birds. He comes across as the sort of man who'd happily have a chat over a pint and a bag of pork scratchings.

Team him up with Pat Nevin and we have a right lads duo. Both need to work on their accents though, especially for this Yorkshire Heathen
