Wooooah! Lets just hang on there a minute. JR is giving free season tickets away? Surely not? Forgive me if you've been given one for some other reason, known to you and JR - its his Club at the end of the day.

My concern here is that yes it must be knackering banging a drum for an hour or so but if JR starts rewarding fans like this where does he stop? Does Paul Mayfield get a free ticket, Len South, others who run coaches? Old Pat and Chas? Those involved who were in Save the Rovers? Fanzine? This site?

Some people have given years and thousands of pounds to supporting Rovers home and away and work voluntarily for god knows how many hours a week to help this fine Club of ours.

So your complaing about the lack of noise? and yet you want me too stop drumming so other people can hear nothing. if i bang atleast it creates some noise and the other fans might choose too join in with it, take the drum away and all the noise goes because very rarelly does somebody apart from me start a chant..
In responce too the singing section we've been trying too get it atleast trailed all season and the club would be more than happy to go along with it, however the stewards and police do not so there isn't much chance of it happening, if people want too sing them should join the south stand and help me get others going.

So, if JR tapped you on the shoulder and said I appreciate what you're doing and I want to make sure you carry one what you are doing, your season ticket's on me.

You would of course say, thanks John but no thanks ?

To be fair to the lad, he turned up to pay for his ST only to find that JR had kept his word.

So what are you going to do to earn your free ST next season ? I think you would have to agree the drummer goes above and beyond.
Thats not to say there are other people who willingly give more time and effort to the cause than Jo Bloggs fans like me.

Good luck to them, I am very grateful that we have got such committed fans and it's great that they receive recognition from the top man.

Whilst we're on the subject about commitment and rewards, what makes you feel sufficiently rewarded for renewing your season ticket?

This is something I've been banging the drum about for three seasons now. For all of you remember the stationery set with your name on the ruler, place mat and sticker for your car or, the FREE Beresford's replica shirt, did that make you feel rewarded for being a loyal season ticket holder ?

Yes, they were nice things to receive BUT, would you have rather have been recognised by being rewarded with a loyalty discount off your next seasons ticket ?

May I be so bold as to suggest that taking out the club scout offer, if they had rewarded you with £50 off the headline ST price, you would have been more likely to have thought, that's a good deal, I'll have some of that.

So, they could have put the prices up by £20, but by being rewarded by the loyalty discount and paying less, would have made people feel better about handing over their hard earned cash.

On top of that, introducing the instalments and a 'modest' cash back system for signing up new ST holders would result in a better take up ?

You be the judge.

What a lovely gesture on JR's part giving the drummer a season ticket!  Even more impressive is that with all the things he must have on his mind, he still remembers the little things that mean so much to others.

One of the things we will be looking for from the club is some analysis of the results of the various initiatives I.e.

What proportion of existing STH renewed before the earlybird deadline
How many existing STHs transferred to the Polypipe Poular South stand ;)
What has been the overall renewal rate
How many new STH are there
What prortion of new STHs were scouted.
What has happened with kids ST's etc.

I would expect these to be the sorts of questions the Board will be asking, we 'll see what we can find out, although this will have to wait until the summer, when the scout deadline passes.

The point I made isn't about whether the drummer boy deserves one or not - that's JR's opinion. I don't mind either way, I think he does a good job and welcome his efforts.

Baz - of course I wouldn't turn a free ST down - at the end of the day I spend around £4500 a season watching Rovers so \"every little helps\".

I just don't think it is very fair on the others who've given so much more. Why not give a few out to worthwhiles each year? This whole \"ask not what your club can do for you\" thing is a bit undermined when some people have given their all fundraising etc and don't get anything (not that they want it I'm sure) and yet the drummer lad gets one. It just pisses on the chips of others in my eyes.

In response to your question about reward - for me, I'd buy a ST if it was £1000. I never think twice about renewing, it isn't about what I get back ie quality of football, freebie shirt etc its about being addicted and (sadly for my bank balance) its one that will be very difficult to shake. However, it would be nice to feel wanted from time to time so a loyalty based season ticket would be great. Be a ST for 5 years, get your next at half price year, after 10, get year 11 free. ST or just ticket based schemes are best, it shouldn't be linked to shop bought purchases. It should be linked to away tickets bought, like you'd get 1 point for buying a ticket for Oakwell but 20 for Carrow Road etc. I know this then affects those that can't go to away games because of cost or family commitments but you've got to have some benchmark.

i turned up on the day too buy my own season ticket, the one which would have been my 10th season ticket exactly and im only 16, coming up 17 shortly. i was willing too pay for it but when i got there the women said it was already payed for.  i go all away games too but obviously hardly any let the drum in, but ill still be there in season and pre-season putting money into the club. i think it was a nice gesture and shows he cares about the fans.
thanks norfolk i might take you up on that offer some time haa!

Drummer - you know how Boro away is the last of the season? Well, could you contact them and find out in advance if they let drums in (I don't know if they do), and could you find out if they'd let you in with it due to it being the final day? Would love a kind of party atmosphere on final day.

Come on A9, you know that this was a spontaneous offer to someone and JR being JR has fulfilled his commitment..........please don't knock youtself around the head about a one-off gesture.
Btw there are many many supporters that have poured 10's of '000s into the club over the last 50/60/70 years, quite simply he can't reward them all. The success of OUR club is reward enough and a fine gesture by JR should never be used against him.
