Trying to fend off two of them on his own because none of the defenders came back to help, that's what.

Would it not have been easier to play it to Woods when he realised he'd have to turn towards goal?

If by \"fend off\" you mean dwelling on the ball and then booting it at their player then I agree. ;)

The defeat wasn't Wilson's fault, but it was a poor mistake in a fairly simple situation to deal with. And the goal that came from it transpired to kill us off. I've been told before that he's a \"good player to have on in the last 20 minutes to hang on to a result.\" Came up trumps today, didn't it?

I'm not saying the defeat was his fault, but the third goal was 60% his fault, 20% Woods' and 20% the rest of the defence for not helping.

Wilson was trying to keep the ball alive in play and get it forwards - end of

It would have been easy to play it back but if you recall there was only just time to ko again after the goal AND so imagine the groans if he had controlled it immaculately and then rolled it back to Woods and he took a touch and ....then final whistle... all the second guessers would have been saying should have humped it forwards

We were 2-1 down so unless we go down on goal difference (by 1) then we did not lose anything, If we had been 2-1 UP and he had done that and cost us 2 extra points - then fair do's

Wilson will know he made a mistake but the last thing he needs is so called 'fans' on his back, we we're already 2 1 down and looking useless in front of goal, what's done is done and we can't change it. So how about getting of his back, looking to Tuesday and getting behind the lads. COYR!!!!!!!!

Funny how everyone's concentrating on the third goal, which was scored in the fifth minute of four minutes stoppage time. I agree with Donnywolf- at that point losing 1-2 or 1-3 makes little difference in the scheme of things.

On the other hand, that was the best I've seen us play for some time. I'm not saying we will, but IF we reproduce that form against Preston and Palace, then we should win those games.

That's also the toughest game out of the way as well- and one where I feared we might take a drubbing.

Any chance of Euell starting on Tuesday? I thought he livened up our attack no end when he came on.

Thank you TRB for what looks like a little more positivity (and hopefully realism) for us exiles on a bad day.

From the stats it looks like we played well against a good side. To lose in the 90th minute is always gut-wrenching. Looks like we just need to keep up that level of performance and have a bit of luck. At least we scored today so there's one monkey off our back.

Mind you if we lose on Tuesday...........

My point being Wilson should not have been on the pitch. Mason should have come on when Gillet came off.

Thank you from me too John. It's totally impossible to get any sense of what happened from anywhere else in this thread, or the other threads. Your comments, made without pre formed opinions, are always very welcome indeed!

Cheers
