Jason Euell
« on April 24, 2011, 11:36:55 am by Snods Shinpad 2 »
Just catching up on all the threads, so maybe it's covering old ground, but I thought Euell deserved a thread for his performance on Saturday. I thought he played the lone striker role to perfection. His workrate was spot on, he held the ball up well, won plenty in the air, created room for himself for shots on goal, put in plenty of tackles and didn't spend any time berating his teammates for not putting the ball on a plate for him all the time.

Top performance I thought and my MOM.

There`s one thing you can say about Euell, he`s not here just for the ride, he plays like he really cares and is 100% commited, I would n`t mind him being signed for next season along with a bigger target man type ala Darius Henderson

A close second to friend for motm.

Would love to sign him next season. Still got a bit of pace too.

If Blackpool get relegated I think he'll be needed back there for the sake of the wage bill.
Thought he did really well on Fri. shielded the ball brilliantly from their defenders.

I might be wrong but is n`t he out of contract at Blackpool at the end of the season?

I thought he was out of contract.
... I agree and Even at 34 I'd give him a season, good cover if we need it and if we don't he might be a good player to bring on for last 20 to hold play up.

In his interview on radio sheffield he was asked whether he would like to stay on next season if given the chance and he said \"yeah but obviously i'll have to see what the situation is at blackpool\". So although he's out of contract I think your point still stands as it sounds as if Blackpool would be his first choice if they offered him something.

He lost a lot  in a Property deal crash ... so I guess will hope to continue playing for a couple of years to try to recover financially.

Cheers, I wonder if his property business partner was called Ren Kichardson?  :headbang:

I feel he would have to take a paycut to play for us as i cant see SOD wanting to pay him that much when he would nothing more than a squad player.

Still had a very good game on Friday and i would be happy if we gave him a 1 year deal to show us what he has to offer,we dont really have a player who can hold the ball up like he does and hes quite fast for a big 34 year old lad,not a natural goalscorer but equally as important imo.

OK, so I guess we'd all take Euell in for Brooker out.

So, who replaces Shiels?  Deano has been an absolute enigma to me - brilliant in flashes, but flashes dont cut it at this level.

Hopefuly no one will replace him. I like Shiels, great finisher if played in the correct position. I just hope we dont waste him out wide or in CM any more or we'l never see the best of him. His finish against QPR last season was one of real quality. He just needs a regular run in the 'Hayter' role behind /off Billy and he'l show his class

The problem to me is that on the rare occasions when he gets his chance and starts a game he is invariably anonymous for the largest part.  Thats a luxury we just cant afford to carry in my view.

On hearing the commentary today, I'm thinking he's just risen right up there for a target for the summers signings.
