Pretty sure Norwich vs Watford was on the Friday last year. No doubt TV interest will be big for this game with it being the first at the new stadium.

It was. As was Middlesbrough v Sheff United the year before.

We could of course be shown on the BBC! I think Leeds v Derby was shown on the opening day of the season with a 5.15ko. Was sat in a pub in Preston watching most of it.

There were four Football League games shown on the opening weekend of last season...

Norwich vs Watford (Friday 7.45, Sky)
Southampton vs Plymouth (Saturday 12.45, Sky)
Leeds vs Derby (Saturday 5.20, BBC)
Cardiff vs Sheff Utd (Sunday 1.30, Sky).

I can't see why it would be any different this year, so we have more than a fair chance of being shown. The same could be said of our game with West Ham the following weekend.

ok, so the important question then is when are we likely to find out if we're going to be televised so that people who are making the trip can book travel/accommodation etc?

Thanks Kenny for clearing that up, i'd prefer us not to be on tv for the Brighton game though, more fans would go down, meaning there would be a better atmosphere, and if it was not a 3pm kick off on saterday, it could make it more awkward to get to.

It looks like the fixtures computer may have a penchant for romance, there couldn't really be a more appropriate club to christen the new Brighton stadium. It's almost is if someone may have chosen it...

;) It's not what you know its who...aint it SM.

Certainly is RR, but don't let Benaldo hear me say that!  ;)

If this game is on Sky(likely) could it end up being on the Friday night?

Now that would suit me down to the ground...we are away on the Saturday:(

Sky, or anybody else for that matter have until the 4th July to announce changes for games up until the end of November. It may be wise to hold off until then if people are thinking of making expensive arrangements that can't be changed.

I don't think its a candidate for Sky, the fixture itself isn't eye catching and whilst we and Brighton fans all appreciate the significance of the fixture how many fans of other clubs will remember Rovers as the last visitors to the Goldstone Ground, very few I would imagine. The two clubs respective 2nd fixture are more likely to be eyed up for live broadcast, Rovers v West Ham and Porstmouth v Brighton. Anyway according to the Sussex Argus its 3 points for the Seagulls against next seasons strugglers....

If I were SOD I would get that article on a load of A3 posters and have it up in the dressing room every time the team trained  between now and then , I would then give it to them on the Coach microphone all the way to POOFSVILLE. Just like medieval warlords used to harangue their troops!

infact here is the first Paragraph:

\"SO THOSE CHEEKY HANDBAG CARRYING SOUTHERN TWERPS, THINK THEYRE GONNA GET THREE POINTS TODAY!!! .....0VER MY DEAD BODY THEY ARE!!! AND THERE WILL BE A FEW MORE DEAD BODIES ON THIS COACH TONIGHT IF WE ARE'NT COMING HOME WITH THREE POINTS!!!...., WHO THE HELL DO THEY THINK WE ARE ?.... WE ARE THE ARSENAL OF THE NORTH AND BY GOD YOU GENTLEMEN ARE GOING TO SHOW THEM WHY WE ARE KNOWN BY THAT NAME ETC ETC ETC\"
