If we do get hold of the KMS - are we likely to see lecky turnstiles at all, or do you not have any idea about that?

I wouldn't have thought so seen as we have just had season books made but maybe next season could happen would still need people there on the gate for the amount of time they fail ask Leeds fans they are always having to scan the person infront in

There is no chance of the council selling the stadium. And that has come direct from a prominent member of Doncaster Council.

That's pretty straightforward then. We didn't turn down a bid of £3M plus.

Nor did we accept it. It was thought right that the player concerned should be informed and allowed to talk to the club. If after those talks the player had come back and said - this team are offering me £5k/£10k/£15/£50k per week more, if you can match that I will stay, or if you can't I will go. The club may then have said, we will take £3.25m + Lambert. They didn't, he didn't, we didn't. Simpelzz

Agree with this quote in that councis dont work like normal businesses do they ? Any proposal would ave to go through council and the chances of labour agreeing to a davies deal must be low. Either way it would have to be agreed by council.

They may see it from the point of view that it'll allow them to spend this money elsewhere, such as keeping a library open or something. Not confident though..

So how have we improved on  what was a very poor central defence last season. I no we've brought the guy from leeds in on a short term deal but come on how can we expect to keep the goals out when are best central defender is a left back

And there is the man who says there's no chance of the stadium being sold. I have been told by someone who was present at a cabinet meeting three weeks ago. \"Jewel in Doncaster's crown\" apparently...

Which just tells you how out of touch Davies is.

The Keepmoat is a money pit for the council, and would be much better if privately managed, and I don't say this just as a rovers fan.

That's the kind of white lie a salesmen gives when they want to sell something.

Interesting cos when he was elected he was all about saving money i.e. gay pride etc and I am sure mentioned that the KM situation would be looked at very closely given always losing money on it and amount costing tax payer.

This to me is a total no brainer and total win win for both parties ......

To me this is the real interest for the KM (now3) and without this their interest could fade?

Wasnt the race course a jewel in the crown at one time ? Councils generally give away loads of assets such as land etc to sometimes dodgy causes eg some faith schools . Im disappointed the council cant see the rovers as one of thetowns few success stories and do all they can to support it going forward.
Gartom did JR comment on the ongoing injury problems?

It still didn't stop it selling it, now owned by Arena Leisure. If they sold the \"Crown Jewels\" once why not again? :scarf:

Didn't Davies actually say he'd rather Doncaster didn't have a team? or am I wrong on that?

i believe he said that he doesn't believe tax payers money should be spent on sports related stuff, so if he'd have been running the show when the plans went through for the stadium it wouldn't have happened.

The good point here tho' is that JR and Davies are getting on famously - JR has had a load of meetings / conversations with Davies....which can only meant that JR will get the Keepmoat sooner or later - lets hope JR's timescales are realistic !!

Wake up. Thats a classic sales technique right there to maximise the perceived value of the asset.

Who is it who  said \"Everythings for sale\"?

Has the mayor got delegated authority in the constitution to authorise the sale gartom? If not it will require a vote and the supprt of labour who surely wont give davies a free get out of jail card when it comes to avoiding budget cuts via the sale proceeds.

Wouldn't it just need the cabinet to agree and not the full council?

We did nt go into all the details, just left JR with a smile on his face as he told us he was 'on the case'....it seemed rude to 'interrupt' him during this part of our meeting !

He said he would keep me posted - so as soon as I have info, I will let you know...

The club should be careful about buying the stadium. They can't break even as it is and with the additional expenditure of buying the stadium and all the running and maintenance costs, what is to say that will change? Additionally, does anyone really think DRFC could run the stadium competently given some of their previous gaffes?

Another worrying point is JR also claiming that no more serious money will be spent on improving the squad. If he really thinks the current squad we have is capable of achieving a top half finish then sadly he is living in cuckoo land and just paying people lip service. The squad we have is nowhere near good enough. Apart from Spurr who may or may not be a good signing and the ageing old man with no pace that is Naylor, we are left with the same incumbents that were pretty inept defensively last season. Crossing fingers, hoping and praying that these players will now turn good and stop shipping goals is very naive. We need a good quality centre back asap, whether it is loan or permanent.

The new signings have been encouraging to some degree, but we are nowhere near the finished article right now. We need to keep improving it otherwise the odds are we will get murdered and be the whipping boys again like we were in the second half of last season.

The injury problems which keep re-occurring don't help either.

Well Kenny you do have a point there. If Sir John believes Morris has the ability to run the full stadium operation then we will think the smc are miracle workers after 6 months...
It would need a complete new approach and as much as i hate consultants and quangoes and all that jazz,we would have to get advice on a structure for the leisure and marketing complex that the km actually is..I am not saying bring in a company to do it just take some advice on proper and proffesional marketing from the gym to the corporate facilities available to maximise revenue....
