Win, Clean sheet....

So Palace have edged the stats of the game. But never the less, we got a win and kept a clean sheet!! Lets hope this isn't a once in seven month thing

Time will tell, although I'm happy with what I've seen today. Ok, so the first half was like watching paint dry, but once we got control of the game in the second, and especially when Billy came on, it was like watching a different team.

B) George Friend excellent today, playing at what is for him, out of position at left back. The real difference was 3 very important quality saves by Sulli. Different goalie, diffent outcome!!!!!!!! A big thanks to Sulli.

Nice to see a goalkeeper making saves.
Nice to see the players putting in a professional performance and hiding their thoughts of the last 24/48hrs.
Strange to see and hear rovers clapping an awful first half performance, which a majority would have been booing had Sean still been in charge.
Nice to see Dean put on subs early to change the game.
Nice to Lalkovic and the return of Billy, I bet Sean wished he had that luxury for the last 26 games minus one.
Nice to see John Oster shoot and us having the luck for a change.
Nice to see Jimmy completely blank the technical genius that is Micky Walker when leaving the pitch and trying to shake his hand.
Nice to see us get three points.
Well done the players

The failure was a two faced gentleman trying to get the media lime light as normal before the game started. I hope he asked the other two if this was ok.

First half I thought we looked like a side incapable of showing the spirit to stay in this division, for the first time in a while I truly was bored.

Second half and we started in similar fashion, the crowd were roaring and in the end possibly won the game for us.

That said Palace were nothing close to a Championship side today and you could call it a let off, but we have the 3 points and the building blocks to be going on with...

Not that I agree with your thoughts, but what was also poignant was the same fella walking back to his seat after the media infested intro's. Now our John would 10/10 go to his seat via the West, South and East stands to take the plaudits every game. Did he go the other way this time via the North Stand. Hmmmmmmm.

It seemed to me they were under orders to get the ball forward much quicker, there were many times hen we hoofed it when there was a better pass on. I kept checking on Saunders who appeared to be urging then to play balls quickly in to the channels.

At times is seemed like the ball was a hot potato. The play was very scruffy although the tempo seemed better. Better signs in the second half for obvious reasons.

After the game though Saunders said he wanted us the pass the ball so slightly confusing why the players took the option to hoof it.

It's a good start and good to see the senior pros putting in a shift. Bodes well, as we know we can play better.

Decent attendance today but Dave Morris take note: You said there's never a problem with queuing at the ticket office. Well, a couple of hundred 5 mins before kick off may disagree. Where were you, having a sip of champers in the restaurant ??

Have you got a Player subscription DBR? If so go on and watch the post match interview with Saunders, it might give you a bit of an insight. In a nutshell he said the same as you that the ball was a bit of a hot potato, that we played it long too many times and the players were nervous due to the crap run etc.

Ha. Coincidence he used the same phrase. But I got it wrong, thinking during the game he wanted us to play hoof ball so, it was quite refreshing to hear him say he wants us to pass and move.

If we can do what we know we can and move the ball quicker, and carry that in to the final third, we will move up the table.

Saunders' fortune is SOD's misfortune in that players are coming back however, if Saunders can add his infectious enthusiasm to the squad then no one will begrudge his appointment.

IMO :chair: I don't think it is just the players coming back that changed the game. As on a lot of other threads. SOD wouldn't have done the same things DS did, early subs being one of them. Like he says about the players, they make their own luck and I think his attitude did it for him. I'll support him like others did yesterday, because he seems to want the best for us.
