Hmm

My own points from yesterday.

1) Martis will still be \"Matress\" for the forseeable future.
2) Friend had his best ever game at left back....but was still light years away from Spurr.
3) O'Connor is not the player he was.
4) Sullivan was miles better than Woods.
5) Stock looked like someone had pissed on his chips until Lalkovic and Sharp came on.
6) Oster is brilliant.
7) Lalkovic is utterly mind-bogglingly amazing on the ball. Sharp may have got the cheer, but Lalkovic stole the show.
8) Where has Coppinger gone?
9) When Brown is fit we won't need a Parkin.
10) Saunders is much better at reading the game than SOD.
11) The Steak and Ale pie in the Premier club lounge is much improved.
12) I don't like seeing Mickey Walker on the bench shouting at the players every 10 seconds, no matter what is going on, what the score is, who he's shouting at. For all his work at the club, assistant manager material he isn't!
13) Sharp is never going to stop at Rovers, he's too good.
14) Terry Bramall sent his rather dour looking son in his place.

I thank you.

Did we abandone the huddle/cuddle before the game?

Well, we can agree on something there. The first half they looked like Mickey Walker's team, treating the ball like it was a live grenade. I suspect Saunders got hold of them at half time and the result was much better.

Ok then

Difference No9. Naylor plays full game and I couldn't see any fitness issues.
Difference No10. Our back 4 stayed the same formation and same players for 90 mins.
Difference No11. Everything didn't go through Oster.
Difference No12. The goalie didn't play it out to George or the others
Difference No13. The ball wasn't played around the defenders and the goalie...more to the midfielders or forwards

add to that the fact that Martis stayed on for the full 90 minutes.

I said that in point 10 mucker

and Filo, trust me shag, Billy was going to be on the bench at the very least when Sean was in charge.

It certainly was a game of two halves, first half and I found myself bored, we just seemed to hoof it at every given oppertunity, and the passing movements we attempted just seemed to last 3 passes and then give the ball away needlessly.

Second half and we seemed to find that perfect balance between attack and defence that allowed us the freedom to move up and play football. I though it was another version of the Leeds home game this season when we were attacking a lot better and still kept the ball well. Once we got in front the players seemed lifted, it was the first time we lead at a home game this season and I was positive that the only way we would concede after Oster scored was if we bagged another 2.

Not much to comment about the manager after one game, he seems to know what he was doing, just hope he doesn't look at this result and get a little over confident as we all know that is not the best championship opposition we have faced...

Still a positive start, and maybe people were right in saying about SOD \"We don't need someone better, we need someone different, a fresh face\".

Not a chance Billy would have been on the bench under SoD, the only player SoD ever rushed back was Shackell after his hernia and that backfire after about 15 minutes, Billy would not have even been considered until at least the Leeds game!

I posted a thread on it yesterday (nobody seamt to care though).  We were man marking not zonal marking on set pieces and looked much better for it.

Also noted we left a player with a bit more pace further out so that we could counter and to be fair we countered their set pieces quite a few times pretty well.  With players like Bennett, Copps etc in the team that should be what we're good at.

According to DROS , this Monday afternoon SOD and ROC are still on our coaching staff. Perhaps DROS officials are on gardening leave?

1. The sudden availability of funds to strengthen the team is going to have the biggest impact - which I have commented on during our vote about the backing of the previous manager.

2. The team didn't get booed off at half time, because, rest assured, they would have done had SOD still been here!

3. Please God, tell me that MW is not to be Dean's assistant! (you've had your day, Mickey)

4. It just shows what can happen when you get a bit of luck going your way! (which JR has commented on, previously)

5. Copps still suffering from the loss of the management team? Credit the manager for a good call on his substitution.

Very early days for anyone to see any benefits or otherwise so its just not worth commenting on at this stage, but, for me, the sudden 'availability' of funds will be the single most critical thing that could have happened out of all this and it could save our bacon, for this season!

Word in Wrexham that Brian Carey will be joining us today. Can't see Mickey being more than a temporary aide for DS.

Let me assure you, more often than not it was the referee being booed off at half time.

Can't say I always agreed with the booing of the ref, but that was mostly what it was for. No doubt some will have been booing players though.

Funnily enough.........I now feel the need for a cup of tea (at least I think that was what I was thinking). Big teabag though, judging by the photos.
