What Saunders said...

So, going on what Dean said this week about changes having to be made following the Leeds circus on Friday night, what does he do to show those pesky underperforming idiots? Who does he drop for the Blackpool game? Who does he think was too poor against Leeds?

Taking injuries to one side - Parkin, Oconnor, Kirkland (pff) his gaze rests on ......

Oster? Stock? Gillett?

Nope...

He chooses Naylor and Coppinger only!!! Coppinger I totally agree with, but Naylor?? And what about Stock and Gillett? They were pants. Is our squad so poor that he is forced to play the same old players? Does that mean those players know they have their bread buttered for them regardless of what they do?

I've got to agree with your post, there are some strange changes perhaps he's seen something in training that we haven't.

in the short term the answer is yes, longer term no.

given time there will be big changes in both personnel and tactics

His choices are working well so far tonight, playing well. Maybe just maybe Deano knows what he's doing

I agree Copps is a shadow of himself since Finbarr has come in. He doesn't seem to have the confidence to take anyone on anymore. No more of those confident jinking runs weaving between the opposition like the ball was tied to his foot with elastic.

And didn't somebody say ages ago that Naylor struggles with two/three games within a week? Keeping him for saturday maybe?

It sounds like the changes have been made to revert to a system we are more comfortable with.

Oster back in a more familiar role in the middle. Stock always more effective in a three man midfield. Gillett more effective when given the role of protecting those two rather than the demands of playing in a two. Sharp unquestionably better as the main focal point without a big man invading his space. Coppinger could have been retained in this system but it sounds like Bennett and Barnes playing well.

Credit to Saunders for setting up a team that plays to the strengths of what we have. It sounds excellent so far.
