Ipswich yesterday...
« on November 06, 2011, 02:52:56 pm by grayx »
I was one of the 260 who made the journey yesterday & thoroughly enjoyed it. I couldn't believe it when we raced to a 3 goal lead so early, but it was no more than what we deserved. Although we conceaded 2 soft goals in the second half the scoreline really flattered Ipswich as the result was never really in doubt (although the ref did his best to give Ipswich chance to equalise by playing a ridiculous amunt of injury time).
We didn't look like a bottom 3 team yesterday, Diouf was quality but we weren't just a one man team. Billy scored another nice goal (massive respect to Ipswich fans for their applause) Stock & Copps were more like their old selves, Naylor & Martis solid at the back. I was a bit pissed off with Illunga for a poor challenge when we conceaded the second goal, but that was probably because I was on Rovers to win 3-1 @ 33/1.
On yesterday's showing we are 3 players short of a good side. Sorry Sully & Gillet and George IS NOT a midfielder.
Overall well chuffed with result . Ipswich was a bit crap at night to be honest, but the fans we did speak to all acknowledged that the best team won.

Maybe Benaldo has only visited during the day, when it is comparable to the hanging gardens of Babylon, apparently ;)

On the subject of injury time, the 4th official indicated 4 minutes, I started my stop watch as soon as the 90 stopped and the game ended about 30 seconds after the 4 minutes... In that time they scored so I don't think there was  a ridiculous amount... 4 minutes was probably right given the subs and incidents in the second half!

Thought we played well, we are a solid defence away from being a decent team, Diouf looks quality and he works tirelessly for the team.
