Good call. That old tag of his 'intelligent player, tireless runner, off the ball work, can make the team tick' was very much apparent. Excellent team player performance from James.

Cannot remember a game when he has not worked his socks off - all ways gets back and chases back when he loses the ball

Hayter had a great game. For all of Diouf's technical brilliance and equally good work ethic, I'm not 100% convinced he is as an effective partner for Sharp as Hayter is. Hayter/Sharp seem to be on the same wavelength. I'm probably in a minority of one on this, and maybe Diouf/Sharp need time to blend, but as it stands Hayter/Sharp should start the next game for me.

I am 100% with you on that

As a footnote Barnsley should have thought better of wearing all White when Hayter was playing (especially in a Stadium that resembles Wembley so much). He was BOUND to score

Hayts always runs his balls off, unfortunately he lacks size/pace but can never fault his effort.

He's OK when played along side someone decent. God help us when we need him to lead the line after January, though.

But by then, if you believe Football Runours, we will have Ched Evans alongside him!

Its not just his workrate. His first touch and especially under pressure and his link up play is excellent.

Always be a god after that goal at wembley just a shame hes never had any pace, but if he did he'd be playing for someone better than us

Hayter always gives 100%. A proper team player.
On two occasions I noticed Bennett was running in from the left, with ball, at pace and played a 1-2 with Hayter. The return pass from Hayter was simple yet perfect and Bennett continued, at pace, without breaking stride.
He linked play well yesterday.

I'm in the same camp. If you were to compare both players taking all things in to account then Diouf should come out on top and there is no doubt Diouf has a touch of class.

But, Hayter is a rare breed and we forget last season when we needed him most he scored in 6 consecutive games, 4 of which were headers if memory serves me right. I've seen Hayter do things that I didn't think possible for a man his size and you underestimate his aeriel ability at your peril.

Saunders should go back and look at Hayter's goals to see just what a player he has on his hands.

Plus, the geezer has a heart the size of a dustbin and lungs the size of airbags.

I love this guy.:woot:  He would be in my line up every week. HE is what I want from my team, he gives 100% EVERY time he pulls on a Rovers shirt. He'll take whatever they dish out and still get up for more!!:boxing:
Loved it on Saturday when he still got a pass in even when on the floor!!

He was still running and chasing back with 92 minutes of the game gone. He had an excellent game topped off with a well taken goal. A totally unassuming model pro in the day and age of having 't**t-ish' footballers thrown all over the national news all the time.

I really hope Saunders realises what he can bring to the team because he is vital. Thoroughly nice bloke to talk to as well.
