The upcoming match against Bristol City set my mind back 48 years to my first ever Rovers match. Details in the grey matter are sketchy. Does anyone have any information about the match. I know we drew this F.A. Cup third round tie 2 each and I seem to recall it was snowing but that is about all. I am sure our most knowledgeable fan base can help out with this one.

I remember going to that one. I think that we were one down and then went 2-1 up.
Our second goal was scored by Freddy Taylor with a cracking left foot shop.
He was a local lad, left winger and had a paper shop in Balby in the 80s.
I think that it was big John Ayteo that scored the equaliser very near the end.
We then lost the replay.
I remember it being a good game though.

Yes I was there too. All I can remember is the score and my dad telling me before the match how good Atyeo was.

I remember Atyeo being talked about in the Evening Post before the game, sounds like he was their No1 player. saw the programme for sale on E Bay, might buy it for sentimental reasons, only £1.75. Sounds like a bargain until you realise that the original price was 4 old pence. What an investment that would have been, a 3500% profit in 48 years, better than most investments I can recall making.

Edit regarding the maths on my previous calculation. It is more like 10,000 % profit.

I was at that match as well
I seem to remember Bristol's goals being in the first and last minutes of the match. I also remember it being one of Alick Jeffrey's first games back, 18K+ crowd, and a fuss about the possible emotional repercussions for Alick with the replay at Ashton Gate where he had broken his leg in 1956
