We did at Notts County at home.

It failed.

The drummer says he was too close to their fans to hear ours.

Half of our fans sat down during first half.

Notts County embarrassed us  :(

But it was good pre-match prior to kick off with the banter and chants and up until they scored (for obvious reasons)
JR could state that if you buy your ticket there you have to be prepared to stand for the game as others may want to stand instead of buying a ticket in the singing section and WANTING TO SIT DOWN FFS like at the county game also!

I just cant help but feel that this would prove a success if implemented or am I just the only one who thinks that?
To be honest, why the f**k am I even talking about it because nothing like this will ever happen permanently...

I don't think the club is allowed to actively encourage standing in the ground are they? I might be wrong there.

I think this whole 'singing section' concept is stupid anyway, always have. You can't manufacture stuff like this (same goes for those specific chant threads), the crowd need to be willing to get going with chants and cheers during the game. The Keepmoat's set-up doesn't help.

why not ,now we are league one ,change the away end and open the north stand up for home supporters.
seems the acoustics are better, although it could just be that we dont sing, although the 60 or so from accrington made plenty o noise

it's important to factor in that all the away singers will be packed together though, and generally teams always make more noise on the road than at their place

Surely its simple though? Everyone who wants to sing and make some noise go buy a season ticket in that section which equals more noise??
At the moment the place is like a flippin library and its embarrasing!

I'd rather not step foot in the keepmoat again that go stand in the West Stand.

I tend to disagree with that Lee. I think all was going quite well with people enjoying standing at HOME for a change. Then the performance on the pitch has the effect of people sinking to their seats.

I was however,  a sign of what can be done when the fans and the club get together to accommodate fans wishes.

I still believe the best place for a singing/standing section is behind the goal (too close to the away fans and it becomes too confrontational and the noise drowns each other out).

If the fans want it to happen, as we know the club are more receptive now, it can happen.

Agreed, hate the view, hate not being behind the goal (just a personal preference that I've always had) and we'd get drowned out even more than we already do down there (as DBR beat me to saying).

Can someone not talk to JR and create a poll of some sort and if the majority say yes then surely JR could implement this 'singing section'

It shouldnt be too difficult to organise - just designate an area where no season tickets can be bought and where seats aren't allocated as with many away games and allow transfers from other areas of the ground.

It's on the agenda, we talk about this endlessly. The club are listening!

We tried it at Notts County and it failed because most of the people didn't want to stand and sing in that area, plus it was full of little kids (now I'm not saying that's not necessarily a bad thing but it didn't seem to help.) South Stand would be better for the "singing" section.

The singing sections a great idea, but why the hell have it near the away fans. It's stupid. Why not make it the South Stand, that's where most the chanting comes from anyway....

As Martin says, it's on the agenda. If any of you are passionate enough about this, why not join the VSC and help the board in heading up this initiative?

JR has enough on his plate, but I'm damn sure he'll support this. It just needs negotiation with the right people and some time and effort on logistics.

To be fair ive took in a few games at OT and i think the fans are quality, yes that 'United, United' cry is popular but they can make some noise. also i like that MU fans also remember old and past players, Cantona, Stam, Solskjaer to name but a few....plus they have some corking songs for players present (ie Park)
