The king of the misquote strikes again!

You`ve become a bit of an expert at twisting things to suite your agenda!

The former Newcastle United man is now worried the club could slide back down the leagues unless preventative measures are taken.

I'm not the one with an agenda. I just have a good grasp of the English language.

But Copps didn't say that did he? No, whoever wrote the article added that bit in.

Get real Mick.

Lol How can someone who pretends to be someone else get real. Even he doesn't know what real is. Is it Mick ?  or Mjdgreg ?
Truth is out there.

That`s directly misquoted from the Radio Sheffield interview done immediately after the pain of relegation against Portsmouth1 I`m sure if Copps had said something along the lines of we`ll bounce back straight away, you would n`t have even mentioned it!

Look deeper Mick, Sunders may not be the greatest manager, only time will tell on that, but given our obvious financial constraints that have been well publicised over the last 2 or three days, I think if you had Fergie in charge with a backroom staff of Guardiola and Mouriniho we`d struggle to put a competitive team out! Our card was marked when the KM2 walked out, there`s no doubt about that and thats probably the reason we are where we are!

In there are speech marks in which Copps says the chairman and manager must get things right so we do not dwindle through the leagues.

'The former Newcastle United man is now worried the club could slide back down the leagues unless preventative measures are taken.
He continued: "We've been here for four seasons and I don't think any of us envisaged us going down.
"The chairman and manager need to get together and work out a plan to stabilise the club so we don't just dwindle through the leagues''.

I think anyone would view the statement in bold as being a realistic take on what he said. To argue otherwise is just being pedantic.

When asked in the radio interview if we could bounce straight back he didn't say 'yes of course we can, we've got a great manager and it will be no problem'. Instead he never gave Saunders one word of praise and talked about us 'falling down the leagues' and then reiterated that point by also saying 'dwindling down the leagues'.

He also didn't want to be 'controversial'. I'm sure he could have said a lot more.

Time to take the blinkers off and get real. Saunders out now!!!

So he didn't say it then did he. It's your interpretation of what he said. To argue otherwise would be completely false.

PS. I think Madmick50 suits you so much better.

To be fair the title of the thread is "Copps worried that we are going to get relegated again and again" which means Coppinger is concerned, and he is quoted saying:

"The chairman and manager need to get together and work out a plan to stabilise the club so we don't just dwindle through the leagues."

It doesn't sound like the thread is inaccurate, but I agree it is clutching at straws...

I think Crofty makes a fair point. The title of the thread directly elaborates on the inference made by Copps in the interview, however I'm not sure the thread is entirely needed.

I think it's patently obvious to anyone and everyone that Copps has reservations about the direction that the club has taken this season. I would be surprised if anyone would genuinely deny so other than for the purpose of pedantry.

I must be living in a parallel universe if people seriously don't believe Copps said he is worried about us being relegated again and again.

He obviously thinks the club is unstable at the moment and currently there isn't a coherent plan in place to stop us plunging through the leagues.

Well I can come up with the first part of the stabilisation plan - Saunders out now!!!

I'd say that with no manager and a shitload of compensation to pay out we'd be more unstable.

Greg,
Your interpretation is correct. Personally I  would have Sean back like a shot but that is not going to happen. JR is in a corner right now and there is no way we can pay Deano off. Reluctantly we have to support Deano,JR and the club as we are now on a wing and a pray to survive.  I believe Copps is right we could be in big trouble next season. JR made a mistake, as we all do, but he will still get my full but measured support, well, until we get to 27 games without a win that is.

Greg,
Your interpretation is correct.

Thank you. I don't mind people disagreeing with me but to argue black is white is ridiculous.
