Jennings attracting interest
« on July 05, 2012, 09:43:38 am by burton_1989 »
Sky Sports understands that Motherwell midfielder Steven Jennings is being targeted by a number of English clubs.

Jennings is out of contract at Fir Park and has yet to agree a new deal, casting doubt over where he will be plying his trade for the upcoming season.

And it is understood that Sheffield Wednesday, Peterborough and Doncaster are all in the running for his signature.

Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough are keen to strengthen their squads ahead of the new Championship campaign, while Doncaster are preparing for life in League One following relegation.

All three clubs have identified Jennings as a possible transfer target and he could now be set to return to English football

The 27-year-old spent the early part of his career with Tranmere before joining Motherwell in the summer of 2009.

A great player, always reminded me of a poor man's Steven Gerrard.

I've been wanting us to sign him since he was at Tranmere so would be pleased with this one.

A strong midfielder who does well getting forward, likes a tackle too.

A regular feature in a team who qualified for the Champions League, you can't balk at that. This would be a superb signing, and hopefully a bit more successful than our last midfield import from the SPL.

If the other links are true, why would he turn down a move to the division above?

Depends whether he is money orientated like a majority of football players or instead of being a squad player in the championship, he will get first team football with us.

But we have to have targets to replace the average players Dean was left with, his words.

So you must believe he will get players with better ability, we do not share the same opinion but we will wait and see what happens. By the way these players were good enough to get us promoted from this division so the players that Dean brings in will get us up first time.

You cant really say that. The league has changed alot since then. Plus, we got up with Wellens, Mills, a younger Sullivan, Hayter, Price, Heffernan, G. Roberts, Green and dare I say it Guy. Not exactly the remaining 12 from last season that Deano has to work with is it.

In the newspaper article Dean was talking about RW and MM. Since they have gone he said some of the players who looked good are just average. So the intention for me he is saying, the likes of Stock, M.Woods, Coppinger,O'Connor are average they are our best players in the 12 we have left. These are the players he is trying to get off the wage bill to bring in others.

These players are also 4 years older, that's like saying we need to find a better player than Colin cramb or mark rankine, as they are now.
Who are the players left anyway that got us promoted? Not many.
I think his average comment would be about, oster, hayter, o Connor, chambers, Wilson, as he was talking about how they've coped since mm, rw, bs left.
