good performance
« on July 31, 2012, 09:52:01 pm by big fat yorkshire pudding »
Not perfect, but decent. We looked solid at the back but a couple of mistakes let us down to give them chances. They had a lot of ball first half but struggled to break us down.

Second half we had a bit more tempo and had much more control I thought.

Impressed with Jones, Bennett, syers and Hawley. Hawley for me impressed up front seems to suit us a bit.

Hawley offered a lot more than Brown did, the midfield worked very hard to close Hull down, Jones was a bit unlucky with the OG, but he looked decent, a good communicator and never stopped talking to the defence the whole game

Agree with most of that. Don't remember the chances we gifted them though.

Seyers and Woods running up and down and non stop closing down was the key. Stock just don't get up and down enough for me.

Agree with the first two posts. They looked the better team first half, but the changes seemed to make a difference, and we played some really good stuff second half. Some of the link-up play between Syers, Coppinger, Bennett, Hawley and Morgan-Smith was first class.

Quinn looked steady without really doing anything spectacular. His track record suggests he would be a decent addition though. And I was impressed with Jones. He recovered from the O.G. and was very solid after that.

Not sure if we'll try and sign Hawley and Morgan-Smith, but they both impressed me tonight. Not saying that PSF games are a great indicator, but they both seemed to add something today.

Thought we looked very fit even in the last few minutes, really impressed with how were going.

Hawley looked decent, did his chances no harm I would have thought. We played quite well second half, Coppinger, Woods (after a poor 1st half), Bennett, & Syers all looking impressive,  & in Jones, we finally have a central defender that does what it says on the tin.

It appeared that Jones is left footed but played on the right hand side, if we could get a big brute right footed Centre Half we could move Spurr to left back, sign Quinn and we`d have a solid defence

Sounds like some encouraging stuff from tonight, I'm delighted with the result and am thinking maybe we should get Hawley and Morgan-Smith signed up now as we need numbers and they're doing okay in pre-season.

Also why do people keep adding redundant letters to the name 'Syers'? :P

Thought we played very well tonight and deserved to get the win.

Was impressed with Karl Hawley. His touch and technique seemed very good and if we can get him on a cheap contract for one year. Not so sure about Morgan-Smith, but having been with us for a while now in pre-season you would assume that Saunders rates him and is thinking about him.

Maybe Deano can prove me wrong after all this season.

I don't think you are on your own having doubts Alan. However alot are willing to ggive the guy a chance. Don't underestimate what a pre season and having players who want to play for you can do.

Pre season means you can mould the team to how you want them. Get rid of players who you know don't want to play for you. Get the team fit  which we look. Even Woods,Keegan are playing every game so he is doing somthing that others have failed to do. Just Martis to follow suit now.
