Thought he was fantastic, came to claim the ball from Woods whenever he could and was constantly in the thick of things, great goal aswell. Could be an important player for us this season providing he stays fit.

I thought he was poor first half or simply struggled to get in the game. However I put that down to his pairing with Stocky. Historically, these 2 players have never seemed to hit off when both playing central mid. Stock was by far the better player in the first half.
We were completely over-run in midfield in the first half and it looked training practice for Hull.

2nd half we looked a lot hungrier and purposeful. Woods was instrumental in this and Sayers' introduction helped. Morgan Smith was a good outlet if our intention is to get the ball forward quickly.

Woods should piss L1, if he stays injury free, motivated and willing to work for the cause. It will be better for him if one of our greatest players in my lifetime (Stock) leaves.

disagree somewhat!!
he was conspicuous by his absence in the first half: (making little passes does look quaint, but if he aint prepared to make a run for a return pass, then it is inefectual)
however in the second half, i found he corrected all the first half niggles, and put in a good solid performance, passed the ball quicker, and made himself available, his goal was "trademark" and in order for him to pay back the last 2 seasons, he had better use that second half performance as his "profile"

cheers

Agree with this. I wonder if Stock leaving could be Martin's McIndoe moment. Dominant in the second half.

He is like a new signing. Had is best half last night though. Would love to see his pro zone stats on how far he ran.

Let's not forget about Martin Woods that he has barely played football over the last 18months. If he can stay injury free and gets a regular game, you can't be expecting the lad to get up to full speed for a few months yet at least.

IF (and that's a big IF considering his terrible injury record) we can keep him injury free for the majority of the season, then in Woods and Cotterill we have two of the best players in this league.

Both of them need to perform well this season anyway to prove that they can still cut it as footballers. Woods expecially has a big point to prove.
