There's gonna be plenty of empty seats, we need to target local schools and local junior football teams at a very young age, get them down and get the younger generation interested! What part of our problem is is that kids when they get to about 6 and are wanting to go to a football match and the keepmoat is not the first place they go! They end up elsewhere, at what there parents probably view as "a bigger club" if we could get them down there gonna annoy there parents to come back!

We need to capitalise on peope just coming into football, and with the work gary baldwins doin so far (long may it continue) I think the keepmoat will have a better feel good factor this season and be a better place to go!

Sirfran,

The community team at DRFC, along with the marketing team, spend more time talking to schools and local football teams than any other club in the country, they actually do a tremendous job which bodes well for our future. Just take a look at their website to get some idea of what they do, you may be surprised! We, as the VSC, are also trying to help out where we can and have sponsored the odd event to fill the gaps. We, as in people who come on this forum could do much more though.

Martin has the VSC got a box this year? I thought it was a good idea last year for 2 reason. 1 it helps the club out and make it look like the boxs are sold. 2 It gives us fans the chance to go in a box and see the other side of football.

The answer is no. The club shouldn't need our help to fill the boxes and from what I understand they've done a much better job this year than previous. We need to put the monies raised by the VSC into areas where it will be of most benefit, we have started the 'Tomorrows Rovers' campaign that is going to sponsor two of the clubs youth teams and provide funding for a dedicated mini bus. One of the other areas we intend to develop is something similar to what Wednesdayite do at Sheffield were they raise money for season tickets and give them to underprivileged children and parents. We will be doing the same but with the multi game tickets. I'll put more of this on the  forum in a separate thread later.

Thats great. A real nice touch to give kids a chance to come to Rovers who's parents can't afford to bring them.

I appreciate what your saying and agree that the VSC and the community team do a great job! Was just trying to say that the first football game a kid from donny should go to is a donny game! Not to leeds, sheff wed, premiership team etc

Totally agree the people on the forum could do more to!
