Keep an eye on this. Willie will run it down the field to get a low handicap mark and then it will romp in at a massive price.

Why do you think that? Has every horse McKay's had won first time in a handicap?

Hang on a minute. You will be telling us next that every racehorse tries to win in every race.
Horse racing bent??? Never.

Well if Mark Wilson and Copps are backing it next time out, then I'm definitely in.

C'mon then. Longest priced winner ever backed?

In 1975 (not a regular on the horses admittedly!), me & a mate, for some obscure reason that now evades me, had a quid, yes a whole £1 to win on a 'little beauty' by the name of 'Bootlaces'. Came home at 33/1. What a weekend we had on that 'bounty from the Gods'!

133/1

Doncaster Racecourse watching the Breeders Cup before they used to have it on Telly

Losing all night until Arcangues I am sure that is close to the spelling came from way back to get up on the line

John Morgan was MC / PA and he could not believe it when I showed him the Ticket (Pari Mutuel prices)

From Wikipedia

Arcangues (foaled March 12, 1988–October 2006) was a Thoroughbred racehorse and sire from France. The son of owner Daniel Wildenstein's 1984 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Sagace, he was given the name of the village of Arcangues in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques departement of the Aquitaine region. Arcangues had raced only on grass in Europe before being sent to California to compete on the dirt track at Santa Anita Park in the 1993 Breeders' Cup Classic.[2] Bettors sent the horse off at odds of 133-1 in the richest of the Breeders' Cup races. Under last-minute jockey Jerry Bailey, the horse caught Bertrando in the homestretch to score the biggest upset in Breeders' Cup history. His $269.20 payoff for a $2 wager remains a Breeders' Cup record.[3]

I used to be in the TURF 2000 racing club and had a very small share in a horse called IMBACKAGAIN trained Nick Littonmen , mate of mine noticed it was running and phoned me if I wanted a bet on it [ he was in a bookies in Bawtry ] told him to put £3 on it and I would buy his next away programme. It won at 33/1 ,paid for a few away days in the Conference

My Dad dropped a clanger and a half many years ago!

Grand National Day in 1987, we all had our usual 20p on different horses. My Brother and I were out for the day representing Doncaster Boys Brigades in sport out at Beverley and Dad had said to us he was going to put £1 on four horses to finish 1-4

Maori Venture
The Tsarevich
Lean Ar Aghaidh
West Tip

I told him he was being daft and that West Tip would win - but he said that was his order.
Andrew and I watched these four horses come in in dad's order of 1-4 absolutely gobsmacked and dreaming of being rich. When we got back we obviously wanted to know how much he'd won to find out, "I bottled it lads and just put our 20 pences on different horses as usual. Mine won and yours was fourth Al though!"

To this day I do not know how much we would've won had he placed that bet for those horses to finish in that specific order! I don't work the odds and stuff out - but I would imagine it woulda been decent money!

Leger day 7 years ago I backed My Paris at 50/1 as I knew it liked the soft going. Romped home to offset the coin my daughter was losing for me.
