Him and Carl Sagan. Did more than anyone alive to switch kids onto science.

Over to Brian-cheekbones-Cox to pick up the baton I guess. And that lass on BBC science programmes wi lips that look like she could suck a golf ball through 30 foot of hosepipe. She does it for me any road.

How about Professor Brian May to take over - he could finsh the programme with a rousing guitar finish.
He was also a very good friend of Sir Patrick's.

He's obviously a nice guy and loved his planets stuff. I also remember him coming to our school. Although difficult to make his eccentric accent out, I remember him asking a few of us if we wanted to see his venus
