Wolves fan in peace

I don't really know much about Dean Saunders, other than the negative assumption made by many Wolves fans because Donny were relegated with him. I know there was a bit involvement from Willie McKay, who btw is not very popular at Wolves either!

What are your thoughts on Saunders? Good appointment for a Championship team?

The McKay thing was an idea from our board, so it doesn't come part of a Saunders deal. It's a DRFC thing.

I heard differently. I heard that McKay is 100% nailed on as part of this deal. He will bring loads of crap, overprice foreign players to your club. If you have any leverage over Steve Morgan I would call him NOW and tell him to drop any interest in Saunders.

Dean had little to do with us being relegated and many (sensible) rovers fans believe that, dean had to be judged on his own team, he's halved the wage budget while building a successful side, although the style of play hasnt been great it is effective and he's instilled a never say die attitude to our team and we are very solid at the back, i think its fair to say alot of our fans dont want to see him leave

I know where you are coming from CBCB and totally agree with you - not worth Wolves looking or talking to him

Saunders is a terrible manager, wouldn't go near him if I was you.  Great news for us though this, finally we'll have a manager who can do something with a squad.   :rtid:

If I went on another teams board asking for thoughts on an incoming manager I'd not want loads of joke posts.

Saunders could do well with Wolves but I really think we haven't seen enough to judge. Last season was a shambles and I don't think Saunders can be absolved of all blame for it - he was in charge of the team after all - but it was a difficult to situation to work in. Only time will tell, but I certainly don't want him to leave because he is putting together a good team here and we're doing very well this season.

What we shouldn't overlook of course is his backroom team who have worked wonders in improving fitness and keeping the injury count down.

His attitude towards players making too much of knocks/injuries and wanting to come off the pitch is refreshing.

DBR - That is a very good point on the fitness. How many have we had on the sidelines through injury compared to the last few under SOD. I discount Martin Woods as he is always injured.

Martis. He has only remained off the treatment table because he is on the bench. Moment we need to rely on him to play 2+ games in a row he will be injured again.
