Good interview on Radio Sheff.  Glad to hear him say he won't be coming back for any of our players!

Not going to take any of our players - wolves have 40 and want to shed wage bill.
Wished the club well, thanks to away fans, thinks we will go up.
Proud of the fact that he is the oldest ever scorer for Rovers, away at Cleggy pre-season.

I was just about to post a thread about the same thing, beaten to the punch not once but twice!

Nice to hear Dean reassuring the fans that he has to slash the wage bill there first things first, and he doesn't want to take any players from us because he wants us to do well. That should put a few fans' fears at rest for the time being.

Interesting to hear him still referring to Rovers as "us" as well! Sure it was just a Freudian slip though, but it was nice to hear him taking the time out after the game to talk about us and send his appreciation to the fans.

He spoke very well, you could tell he has a lot of affection for the Rovers.  Let's hope he sticks to his words

Great interview. I thought it was really interesting what he was saying about having a small squad like Donny. How it created a great team spirit. Players are all involved and there is a togetherness. Good luck to Dean at Wolves. I think he has been bought in there to reduce the wage bill. It will be tough with 40 players on the books.

You could tell, from the amount of times he said We,and the way he talked about our side, that he found it hard decision to make,it sounds like he's got way too big a squad, push Cassidy over here Dean if you don't want him

He would deserve to be Rob,he's done half the job,he has got a job and a half on with them, just to cut the squad down,i hate to think what the wage bill will be there,i bet some of the players have gone there, and they've been locked in the outer sheds for years, they'll come stumbling out, shielding there eyes from the sun, three or four years growth on the chin, saying is McCarthy still king?

the way he praised JR and DW TB and GB was thoughtful and genuine as was his particulatr praise for our Away following . Best of all he won't come poaching players.

That's what we all wanted to hear Graing,if we don't get any players in from now till january, maybe we would be slightly disappointed, but if we lost any, especially Cotterill, that could derail the whole thing,he is that important.

What DS actally said ;

Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Saunders said, "I have walked into the job at Wolves with a squad of forty players. The Wolves chairman has asked me to reduce the wage bill and lose some players.

"I will be shedding players rather than signing them. I would not like to take any players of Doncaster. I want to see them do well. "

It was an excellent interview - it was clear he was speaking from the heart and leaving Rovers was a very hard decision for him to make.

Well done Dean and good luck at Wolves. See you next season....

Bristol, I heard him in the car on the way home and when he said it, I clenched my fist in approval, as he sounded very sincere.

It warmed my heart listening to him, a great advert for him and the club. But he was asked specifically if he would be taking any players from us and he went onto give a very longwinded answer before coming to "I think, I wouldn't like to take any players...."

That's not a no, although more encouraging than I expected. Fowler is the one I think is most likely to go and whilst he hasn't shown us what he can do yet, I think he'd be one that can shine in the not too distant future.

Obviously never say never but it's as close to a promise as you're ever going to get. If one of our players bags 30 goals this season he wouldn't be a very good manager if he didn't show an interest purely based on sentiment. He strikes me as the honest sort though and I'm sure he meant what he said when he says he wants us to do well.

He was the same to Wrexham. Didn't take Pogba when we had the chance (although I concede we were short on funds, I don't think we even spoke to him).
