Areas to cover throughout the transfer/loan window
« on January 28, 2013, 02:43:20 pm by Belle-Vue-Ghost »
With only 3 and a half days of the transfer window to go all has been quiet in January for us (so far).  Not that i'm too disappointed as I dont think we need any kind of major overhall, just a couple of tweeks here and there.

So if the good people of VSC were in Brian Flynn's shoes, what positions do you think we need cover for?

Personally I cant see us making any transfers, I feel all our activity will come through the loan window.  A left sided midfielder would be a priority for me, followed closely if we were to get injuries by another striker.

How about you guys?

We extended Humes loan till the end of season and got Emile Sinclair on loan and got Copps back.

Its not altering the squad though is it.  I'm talking about additions to what we already have

Isn't Martin Woods back in full training? He'll be pressing for a starting place again soon once he's back up to speed. I really can't see any real weaknesses at present so we might as well hold on to funds and re-assess if and when or before the loan window closes.

How is Copps coming back (not with us before) and Sinclair coming in not adding to the squad?

This seems to be hard work - so I'll repeat the question for you.  Here it is:

So if the good people of VSC were in Brian Flynn's shoes, what positions do you think we need cover for?

I'm not talking about people we signed 10 years ago or people who DS signed.  I'm talking about now!!  What additions (if any) do we need to add to the squad we have NOW??

It seems that you dont think we need anyone - which is fine.  Personally I think we need a left-sided midfielder and maybe another striker.

Thats the great thing about football Martin, its about opinions and everyone has one.

Woods is back yes. According to DROS he played 50 minutes against Man Utd reserves.

We can swing it without having to add anymore. I'd save the money because we are going to need it in the summer... A near whole new squad just to try stay up!

We won't need a whole new squad at all.

Come on then who would you think isn't up to the level required ?

Depending on who we keep. There is a lot of players in the team who have played in the championship. Its not like we will be pushing for promotion. 11players all pulling the same way makes a huge difference. I also think Flynn will let us play with a bit more freedom. Unlike Deans rigid style.

Not good enough:
Shelton Martis
Billy Paynter
Robbie Blake
All the youngsters (bar Husband)
Jamie McCombe
James Harper
Lee Fowler
Andy Griffin
Paul Keegan

A few of them will no doubt stay to make up the numbers, but we'll be laughed at if any of those are regular starters.

Plus add to the fact contracts running out/ losing players, and the fact we'll need a bigger squad... Loads of signings need to happen.
