Cotterill
« on February 23, 2013, 09:11:22 pm by Donnylass »
I thought today's game was one of the best and most on the edge of the seat games we've had at home this season.
But is it just me or does Cotts look a little worn out. For the last few games he's seemed to lack enthusiasm.

Not sure he's been the same since Saunders left to be honest. Don't know if there's anything in that or if it's just the inconsistency that we all knew he suffered from finally setting in.

I've never thought Cotts has the skill someone like Copps has, even from the start of the season. For me he always has drifted in and out of games and his passing has been a little ambitious at times let's say.

But then he delivers pinpoint crosses into danger areas we've scored so many goals from, and scored so many amazing goals already I can only love the geezer. If he's fit, he plays, don't care who we get on loan. It only takes a moment of magic and he is one of those that can provide it.

TBF I think he's been suffering a bit from sickness recently, but he did provide the ball for our goal yet again today.

Sounded like we and him played really well today. I'm proud of the lads for giving it a good go and on another day they would have waltzed to a win .

I think if you speak to fans of previous clubs,Cotts is Mr inconsistent.
Brilliant for a few games, invisible for a few.
Perhaps the secret to him is rest him when he's going through a poor spell. And he is.

We scored one. He got one assist.

That's not poor.

He wasn't bad today but he hardly set the game alight like we know he can, and like he often did in the 1st half of the season. Having said that he did set up the goal, as he did on Monday despite only having about 5 touches all game, and that's why I don't agree that we should drop him. He's the only player in the team who can create something out of nothing even when having a poor game. The inconsistency in his game is something we just have to shoulder because he gets results for us.

Although he can be Mr Invisible for long periods, he is one of very few in the hoops who can do something a little bit special and often does, we need him in the side even if he's an ocassional passenger.

He does create goals but given his responsibilities with dead ball options he does tend to hit the first man (usually theirs) too often
Not really a fan of his

Even when he's poor though he gets a goal or an assist. 1 assist today and 1 against crawley

Maybe someone else wants to be bothered to do the maths, but I'm guessing without his goals and assists we'd be worrying more about relegation than promotion.

Another day we would have tonked them 4 or 5 -1

I think defensively Cotts had one of his best games, he really put the hard yards in tracking back and helping Quinn who, by the way was probably MOM for me. With Cotts though, its the dead ball delivery and sure enough he has helped us to another goal yesterday with the corner.

Don't think we could afford to rest him at this stage of the season that's 2 assists in the last 2 games. Even when quiet he always has the ability to score or get an assist so think the team would miss him too much if he wasn't to play.

Agreed, I thought Quinn was excellent yesterday. Cotterill does seem to drift in and out of games, but given his creative ability he is definitely worth persevering woth.

We might have to rest him soon. 9 yellow cards - one more and it's a two match ban.

Point of information- he's actually on 8 (Keegan is on 9). Though given his propensity to pick up silly cards I wouldn't bet against him getting a short break before the end of the season.

Oh? I was going on what the bloke next to me was saying yesterday.

Who was it that got booked towards the end then? Keegan I take it.

Plus I'd forgotten to take into account that the cards are wiped on NYD.

Keegan was booked for dissent near the end. He hung out a leg and their player went over it. A much clearer foul than the 'keeper bundling over a player in the box- in the crazy world of Mr Ilderton, at least.  :silly:

"flair" players are often inconsistant, its only the top top players like ronaldo and messi that can do it every game, players down a couple of levels such as nani, carzola and tarrabt are in and out of form and are often criticised by there respective fans.
The facts are i doubt there are many midfielders in this country with more assists and goals than cotts, he's played loads of games and could probably do with a rest but again with a weak squad like ours and bennett not doing much when he gets the chance we cant really afford to rest him, i'll take him playing shit for the rest of the season if he gets 1 assist per game  :rtid: :scarf:

It's only his goals that have gone missing of late.  In our recent games, he is almost the only one on the 'assists' stat.  If that makes him a 'passenger' or 'Mr Inconsistent' or 'absent' I'm a dutchman.
