Noticeably pap without Hume. The tempo upped when he came on and that's our strength, players just giving their all. We are all about effort and guts. The second half was a far better performance than the first. Yeovil were rocking when our talismanic striker entered the fray. He's not up to speed yet but those old waspish habits he has, buzzing around defenders and generally making life uncomfortable for them are only a whisker away, even after only 20 mins on the park. We'll be back to winning ways at Shrewsbury.
Other points of note, the young lad in the centre showed some nice touches. Not sure, as I've posted before, whether he can carry the mantle of leadership yet given his tender years.
Woods has never been a good commander of his box for set pieces, corners, free kicks and the like. No presence due to his relatively small size in keeping terms. Doesn't generally need to be thanks to the twin towers of McCombe and Jones. Good shot stopper. Genuine aberration on his part for the goal.
Paynter what can I say. The lad's goal shy. Possibly better as an impact player coming off the bench. Brown is far more effective.
Bottom line is Humey's back and our luck will change. The Huminator.............sent back in time to propel Rovers to the Championship.

Our style of play is very direct and it means we need to be able to get onto all the second balls. We don't have anyone who can chase those lost causes when Hume is out. I expect us to look a lot more dangerous on Tuesday.

i have to disagree with the ""direct style of play comment. i personally think we are anything but in the last 3rd. Still shaking off that sod style of play and not crossing the ball in when players are queing up for that killer cross only for the ball to be played back to left or right midfield.
i wish we were more direct. Yeovil showed they could do that in the first half last sat.

Hume is a driving force of nature. We've badly missed his complete and utter balls out, 1000% head down no-nonsense steam train of an approach to attacking. He was the reason for the Stevenage turnaround and win and he's a catalyst for the other players to get a grip and give it some blood and guts. He's quite brilliant and he's been sorely missed since he got injured. 2 months of him being fit with a fit Syers as well could make all the difference to where we finish. Its a shame Brown is out as he's also been quite tremendous at leading the line.
