Goal music
« on February 23, 2013, 08:13:09 pm by RedJ »
Now I'm not going to open up the debate on whether or not we should have it, but has anyone else noticed we've not had it for a few weeks now?

I don't seem to remember it against Walsall and there certainly wasn't any today.

Anyone know why?

I prefer it without goal music. It's one of the many things i hate about football these days!

I like it myself, was just wondering why it's not been used though.

Wouldn't be fussed if we didn't have it anymore like.

I prefer it without the daft music. I also wonder why when they come out we're asked to 'make some noise' only to be drowned out by some other daft music.

And when we come out for the 2nd half, why the f**k do we come out to Call Me Maybe by Carly Rea Jepson? It's embarrassing!!  :suicide:

It was one of the items we discussed and we agreed to drop it. After all, we should be able to make our own noise when we score.

One of the main problems with the music before the game and at half time is that its too bloody loud - no one has the heart to compete with it and sing.
Why not wind the volume down quite a bit so that the fans can be heard, then they might actually have the desire to make some noise.

We aren't at a dance festival FFS, quit the stupid music! It's a football match not a donny cattle market

Completely agree - the goal music should be ditched permanantly and before the game and at half time the music should be nothing more than background music - let the fans sing or even have a conversation without competing with the disco

Yeah, the thing about that is we don't really, which is a shame. I don't get how we manage to do so away but never at the Keepmoat.

Hopefully that won't be the case in future though.

I'm definitely glad it's gone to be honest. It's not needed and it drowns out the fans.

That wouldn't take much to be fair.

I deeply disliked it. Leave that sort of business for American sports.

It's much better au naturale!

Couldn't agree more. And 'let's make some noise' is one of the most embarrassing innovations since we moved to the Keepmoat. Opposing teams and their fans know they are on a winner before they start if the announcer has to ask the home supporters to make some noise. I think it's counter productive and also one of the reasons for the lack of atmosphere at home games. Please leave it to the fans to make their own atmosphere and turn the sound down.

A good way of getting the message across is when he says it, wait a three seconds......1........2......3 and then all of us retort with SSSSCCCCHHHHHHHH !!!!!

We've made a raft of changes in recent weeks, some of course have been more noticeable than most, but we are getting there. The process has to be seen as seamless otherwise what we are trying to achieve may be counter productive. The lack of goal music is just one of the changes but your approval of it makes me/us more determined.

So the VSC has decided if music should be played following a goal?

Just the use of the word "We". I thought when you are using "We" and referring to things "We agreed to drop", that "we" means the VSC...unless you are using the royal "we"?

oui?

He's referring to the people involved in the fan engagement scheme ("In Rovers We Trust") that the club has been using all season to try and allow us supporters to have a say in the running of the football club. I thought that was pretty straight forward.
