In the bad old days of the 70s/80s.

"Pigs", was a mutual term of endearment from both sides.

I thought Hillsborough was built on an old pig farm and that the Wendies used to play in red and white in the early days. Obviously I've been sucked into an urban myth.

according to kitclassics, wednesday never played in red and white.

although Newcastle's original kit was the same as Sunderland's.

A big City like Sheffield deserves to have a decent football team, unfortunately they have 2 crap ones    :rtid:

What goes round comes round. I hope that those giving it big now can take it if our roles are reversed next season.
We should be happy at what we have achieved rather than glorify in someone else's  failure. There are some sad/childish people on here.

When we lost to Bury a lot on here went mental.
We are a bigger club they are at the bottom etc.
I have no problem with any fan of another club with a bigger fan base and  more illustrious history wondering where they went wrong. It's the small percentage scoring points that pee me off.
Be happy where we are and don't sink to the level of the jealous few fans of other clubs.
After what we have been through we should be better than that.  :scarf:

Slightly different that one Idler those comments really referred to our comparitive positions in the Division at the time and tbf we've had some stick from our bigger neighbours (as well as support) ; it doesn't hurt for some to ''dish' some back now does it ? It's harmless banter not malice after all.

Year less banter is ok Hoola but I think that some of our lot are just too bitter.
Of course so are some of the less educated fans of our rivals.
I've seen enough relegation s since 1958 to know how tenuous our grip is in any league.

We've gotta talk about summat idler. And we can't talk about our game today. Cos we didn't have one. Cos we won the league. Maybe if the Blades focused a bit more on points scoring they'd have come up with us!

Spoke to a Wednesday fan I know about this, and both the above are correct. Hillsborough is built on the site of an old pig farm, hence 'pigs'. And Sheff Utd were started by a team of butchers (Wednesday were started by a team of bakers) and play in red and white hence 'pigs'!!

Well I'm enjoying the gloating and I'll carry on while ever I can to lord it over that shower.

Reason being I've had years of ridicule from that lot, thinking they are billy big bollox.

And another thing.

All this love in thing with Utd and Rovrum, give it a couple of seasons in the same division with Rovrum getting the upper hand and the pigs will turn again.

Remember the "always had a soft spot for Donny bollox".

I don't see the need to tar all fans with the same brush. The small percentage that post on their fora don't reflect the views of the majority.
Just look at some of the idiots that have posted on here.
