As it goes, I've heard one very interesting rumour regarding a certain striker.

I'm not one/dont have a history of making wild assumptions or predictions on here, but I have heard some information from a pretty good source. I don't feel it's appropriate to throw the name around at present. As the original post said, good things come to those who wait! (hopefully!)

clearly be a loan signing as they tend to have to wait for!

What's the point in saying you know something when you have no intention of sharing it? It always baffles me. Is it some sort of bragging or something?

The Swedish one I've seen us linked with is pretty decent too although I'd imagine we'd have a lot of competition

I'd love that Swedish one. He'd be a 20 goal a season guy in this division. No chance though.

Re the keeping stum or not, I think its reassuring  to know the targets a good un and at the same time builds the excitement. My god it would be like bladesmad if there was no news!
Hope whoever this is ColinCramb it comes off and don't feel pressure to spill the beans.
keeps us with some imagination happy.

As long as it doesn't end up like the 5 signing in 5 days we had 7/8 years ago! I seem to remember everyone getting whipped up into a frenzy for that one......

I'm not sure Ronaldo would fit our style of play! :-)

And yes, we've heard all this before about 'top players' and 'top managers'. We'll get what we can afford and it won't be anyone on 20 grand a week!
I hope it's not someone 'on the way down' (Robbie Blake et al) sooner take a chance on a young player maybe from a Prem League club on loan.

It will be interesting to see who it is

Am I imagining or did one year we get told we'd be getting some mouth watering signings then there was just Sharp stood there on his own (not to say Billy couldn't be described that way!)?

Yep we've heard it all before and then we wait for the panic signings. :(

Not particularly sure as to why my comment would need to go in the rumour mill, I haven't disclosed any details and there are plenty of other names thrown around this section of the forum all the time. As for the above person trying to suggest it's some kind of bragging thing, well sorry mate, I grew out of that phase about 18 years ago!

Just thought I would respond to the original post and try and maintain a bit of excitement!

And yes, would be a cracking signing!

To be fair,  they were JR's own words and now stand as a reminder (if one were needed)  that football is a true "best laid plans" wrecker. JR was as gutted as any fan they didn't come off.

It also serves as a reminder to not raise fans' expectations without something concrete to fall back on.

I suppose we didn't foresee Shackell being a greedy bas**rd like. Not a criticism per se.

I don't think we should expect anyone to spill the beans anyway as time as a habit of bringing disappointment however, it is good to know of the type and calibre of player we are after.

We know we will have to tap in to the loan market therefore we will not know the full extent of our arsenal until close to the start of the season.

An early signing of note though would do plenty to stimulate further interest.

Hopefully tomorrow, P Diddy will be able to give us an idea of how he sees the squad evolving and the type of football he would like to see us play.

I'll ask him about Wellens and Furman.
