God i thought woods was scary on crosses, shot stopping wise Turnbull is very good, but commanding his area?? Needs a big improvement.

Got to agree with you Prez, we sit behind the goal in the South, and all the lad seems to be able to do is punch the ball......perhaps a career in boxing may suit him better.....seriously though, Ive got concerns !

Still would have been 3-0 with woods in net made a cracking save in the second half

Excellent shot stopper! Not very convincing at all from crosses. He wants to punch everything yet his punching is very poor

If it weren't for him we wouldn't have the points we have now, nor would it have been 3-1 last week

I absolutely hate this argument. Its as though your suggesting without him we wouldnt play a goalkeeper. How do you know if we didnt have him, the other keeper wouldnt make saves?

Turnbull is the best we've had in a long while and is as good we're likely going to get so learn to deal with it.  For christ sake apart from Keagan and Husband everyone had a poor game compared to the other games this season.

That's like saying when joe hart pulls of a save for man city it can be dismissed by saying "Gary woods might have saved that, so hart is no better than woods"
The saves he made at Wigan, charlton I don't think woods would've saved them

As far as dealing with crosses that's as many iffy games as he's started that he's had. May well be a very good shot stopper but he's awful coming for and dealing with crosses. How the help can he be that bad and spent the last god knows how many years training every day with one of the best keepers in the world.
I'm sure it was just an off-day for Ross

Apart from his tendency to punch when he could catch, another thing that concerns me is that Turnbull seems unable to clear out his 6-yard box at corners, which often means he's trapped on the line. He has the physique to do it and should make use of it.

He is a good shot-stopper though and gives me more confidence than Woods used to do.

Give him time. Im sure after another 10 -15 games we will get to see the best of Ross. He's hardly played for 4 years.

Having seen his shot stopping in evidence at Charlton several times, he gets my vote at present!

The majority of modern keepers are not great on crosses, fantastic shot stopper though,a lot of keepers due to the foreign coach influence are punching the ball more,i personally like to see the keeper catch the ball it spreads calm through the defence, the goal today seemed to be one of those balls into the alley of uncertainty, the keeper thinks about coming for it,but the ball has whipped in too fast, the central defenders haven't adjusted and got in a muddle,it's just a good ball with equal blame to both, for me credit to the provider,we just had an off day.

Turnbull could turn out to be one best keepers we've had for years given time and support. Will he get that from 'the faithful'?? I'd hate to say eitherway!!! Sad really.
