If it was a choice between defence and upfront for a loan, what would people prefer? Presuming we couldn't afford both.

At the moment, I'd go for another CB.  We have Brown, Paynter, Robinson and a clutch of attacking midfielders who should score a few between them.

CB
LB/RB
Striker
Cover keeper

In that order.

I would agree with that

Yet for me I'd say our weakest position so far has been right back.  Not because we don't have one, but because we're playing the wrong one.

I'd say we could do with probably just another striker, we're not too far off and have plenty of options in most areas, just needs a bit of patience whilst some gel as we've some good players who've had one or two bad games, it takes time to adjust at this level after a bit of time in league 1, particularly for Furman, Duffy, Forrester etc who've never played much at this level.

Gotta say, I'm looking forward to seeing the Spaniard play. From what people said of his first half (and only) performance in pre-season it might just be the factor for pushing forward from midfield we need.

@liamhodenDFP: Just spoken to John Ryan. He doesn't expect anything today other than the possibility of Richie Wellens signing his new deal #drfc24m

All those rumours earlier in the season have come to nought I see - Steven ireland to stoke, given to liverpool, Becchio to Middlesbrough (more recent one!) - just heard ireland & Becchio on talksport so could be b*ll*x of course!

By the way, Ozil to arsenal looks like a good move for them, think he'll do well there.

Lots of talk about Billy wouldn't surprise me if he stayed put

Considering that he doesn't form any part of Southampton's plans, that wouldn't be good for him. I suppose he can still be loaned out when that window opens.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him go on loan to the Blunts if this investment of theirs is actually more than smoke and mirrors.

@NabilHassan79: Source in Billy Sharp's camp tells me they have all but given up on sealing a permanent transfer & will now look to loan market. #SaintsFC

SSN sending it's reporters out on the streets outside footy grounds is very dangerous, and the ultimate is going out live.

It's boring now, if the reporter unless:

a) Doesn't get mobbed and dishevelled

b) Has the rabbit ears behind his head

c) Has the 2 fingers salute beside him

d) Has the w**ker gesture all round him

....and my all time classic was outside (I think) Stokes ground and live on air when some reporter was going through the possibilities of signing (I think) Crouch and 1 lad bent another lad over by the metal railings and simulated bumming him, doing the old ass slapping technique ala American Pie. The reporter was oblivious carrying on with his report all serious like. On going back to Jim White in the studio, he'd got the biggest 'bummers grin' I'd seen since inadvertently walking into The Vine circa 1988
