Whilst at Retford on Saturday

Yes, I was another one who didn't go to Sheffield on Saturday due to the price; instead my Dad and I went to watch Retford United. Anyhow the story goes like this:

Once the whistle went for half time we made our way into the club house for a pint and to watch the half time scores coming in on the BBC. This guy stood next to me mumbled something about 'bloody Sheffield United' to which my Dad retorted 'lets hope they lose again!'. This prompted him to say something along the lines of 'lets hope not. We then let slip we were Rovers fans which prompted the most bitter and twisted response you could imagine. To summarise his main points:
- Our crowds are bloody ridiculous for the Championship
- We played crap football last season
- Don't deserve Championship football because we've no history
- We're a selling club

Whilst I managed to pick myself up off the floor with laughter he started to walk off. I proceeded to tell him that being a big club with big crowds and higher level (questionable) history meant bugger all to the current status of a football club plying its trade a league higher than the other. When will they ever realise that all that really does count for feck all. What a bunch of utter kitsons.

and that is the same mentality at Leeds too . It just makes me more proud still of the 'Rovers' model'.( especially the Capital 1 version lol )
