We have such a strong midfield.

Cotterill
Copps
Wellens
Furman
De Valle
Duffy
Forrester
Syers

Bennet just doesnt feature when those lot are infront of him for me im affraid. his contract should have gone towards a CF or a CB IMO.

Bennet will turn up 1 in every 4-5 games. its not good enough at this level.

I have to say that as good and pretty as the midfield were on Saturday, 'strong' isn't a word i'd have used. One of my concerns is we're a bit small in there and we tended to get overrun when we didn't have the ball, an Olofinjana (sp?) type thug of a CM wouldn't go amiss.

I someone seriously offered money for Kyle we should snap their hands off, he looks completely gone at the game.

Time will tell with Jones, second goal was undoubtedly his fault, he looked completely pissed off with himself receiving the MoM champagne in the lounge after so will be working hard to try and put that mistake right.

Lots of bright signs but if we needed reminding how big the gap is in the two divisions we got that from an average Blackpool side - it's a chasm!

totally disagree there fella. Jones was marking centre of goal not far post, the Spurs lad was marking there and got sucked in under the ball and was simply outjumped. Jones could be blamed for putting the ball out for the corner in the 1st place but not the resulting goal

I think the lack of prevention was the point scuzzer was making.

if the corner wasnt gifted then the resulting goal would not have taken place.

Jones will come out fighting.

i agree with selling bennet, get a big strong CM who can scare the opposition, we dont have much of that in midfield, unlike jones in defence and brown up top.

I don't think there is any question of us selling Bennett.
We've just given him a two year contract when we could have just said goodbye to him for Jack S###. To sell him someone would have to admit they've just dropped a huge #######! And that's not gonna happen. The best we could hope for is some silly bugger taking him in loan and pay most of his wages.

As anton has said, Fernandez should give us the muscle that we need when he comes back.  Also Wellens when he is 100% fit.  I couldn't believe he lasted almost the whole game Saturday.

One thing is for sure, we still have a core of winners from last season i.e. Jones.  If it was his fault he'll know it and he'll sort it.

We'll be naive lots of times this season in every position at some point over the 46 games.  We have to accept that and get behind them.

I did mean giving the corner away for no reason, no corner, no goal from it.

A big strong CM would be a good addition for defending set pieces too, the of Saturday's midfield 5 none of them have got a presence defending our own box, the loss of Spurr hurts us there too.

The way I saw it our midfield completely outclassed Blackpool. How they won was because they were as dirty as qpr were a few years ago when they tonked us and because Quinn and especially husband were torn new arseholes by the Blackpool attackers. Husband woz like a conference player and Blackpool obviously targeted him. Quinn was poor, but not as bad as husband. As for jones, I thought he was excellent, same as our new cb. I don't think there's much to complain about regards rovers. Blackpool will not end the season in the top 6. We won't get relegated if we play like that every week either.

I was a doubter about Jones and he didn't entirely put that to bed so jury's out on that

Where he was weak was his distribution
Last year under Saunders was easy  HOOF  but this year requires some finesse which may be beyond him

I nearly forgot. How good was Duffy!!! Jesus Christ! Our attacking midfield of coppinger cotterill Duffy will have most teams worried wont it. I just can't believe people are slagging jones after one game that everyone I know said he played well in! Just put yourself in his shoes having husband outside him and then rethink your criticism. Quinn had a poor game, husband is always poor, but jones, the new cb, and turnbull were beyond reproach. I mean, for gods sake, turnbull saved twice from three feet and then got kicked in the head! Get a decent left back and our defence will be ok.

am i right in thinking that kyle bennet and james husband have become the new lewis guy, mark wilson and mr harper?
husband for me had a good game( the tackle in the first half a worldy)
and up against a £8m player, who imo should not have still been on the pitch for the last ten mins.
i had hoped when kyle came on he would run at their back line and draw the foul n red card ,alas no.
we want to give young players a chance as the cashley coles of this world cost a hell of alot more than we have.
myself was bloody impressed by how well the whole team performed saturday and am looking forward to a decent season.

Remember husband hasnt played in that position for over half a season as he was mainly a left sided midfielder

Husband did well.  Had Ince in his pocket for most of the game.  Ince was mardy and lazy after his Dad balled him out about that poor corner after about 15 mins.

All I saw of husband was ince making a fool of him and every Blackpool attack coming down his side. Even rob jones bollocked him over and over again. I think it's ok to say when a player plays bad don't you? For me husband was absolutely terrible and I wasn't the only one saying that where I sit by a long long way. He's nowhere near a championship standard left back. And if you think he's been playing as a midfielder for a year then where have you been all last season?!

No doubt some statto could prove me wrong, but I reckon husband made at least as many appearances at left mid as he did at left back last year.

I too thought Husband had a nervy afternoon.  Some of that was down to playing against an opponent who's a massive step up from the midfielders he faced last season in L1.  Let's hope he can brush it off and prove he's got what it takes.  Personally I'd be very surprised if our new manager who sees things with fresh eyes hasn't got a new first choice left back in before the end of the month.

Husband in particular seems to get so much slack from the fans mainly because he came through the ranks.  If Lewis Guy, Gary Woods or one of the other countless scapegoats we've had put in a performance like Husband did on Saturday there'd be a stampede on here to slate them.

MOTM what a joke. Just the same as last season. You score a goal you get MOTM simple. He was to blame for the second goal he should have cleared it for a throw in at worst.
I thought the lad from Spurs was better than Jones today.
Sponsors MoM though... ie: the player the sponsors would like to see after the game for photos

nobody can deny the big man always gives 100% but not enough pace or nous at this level. league 1/2 defender. big leagues call for big decisions Mr Dickov you need to make one.
Would you care to 're-visit' your post now?
