Dickov said he watched it over and over and is sure Theo was onside. I haven't seen it yet.

If it was onside and the decision was flagged so late, that is bad. If it's offside and the decision is late, you have to wonder why, though I'm thinking it can only be that the lino had a camera and decided to review the play to make sure.

From the angle that was shown on the FL Show - it is inconclusive at best

The issue for me is not whether it was offside or not, even if it was offside, the decision was ridiculously late, as soon as the ball is played to Theo, Theo becomes active and the flag should have been raised then, it wasn't, so the only conclusion the ref can come to in that instance is that Theo was onside. To give offside after he has had a touch and scored a goal is wrong, he's already been deemed onside, the ref should have over ruled the lino and awarded a goal

It's nothing to do with the offside rule.  In this instance, he was either onside or he wasn't.  No one else was involved, there was no question of the linesman having to consider him being active or inactive.

If he was onside, it's a goal to Rovers.

If the linesman thought he was offside, he should have flagged as soon as he touched the ball for the first time.

He had absolutely no reason to wait in this instance and I can't for the life of me understand why he would have needed to wait.

Only the linesman will know the answer to that one!!

Looking at the video, it is difficult to see if Peltier at RB is playing Theo onside, but surely the last touch from Macheda's attempted pass to Brown is played by a Leeds defender stepping up.

Anyway,see for yourself;

That's what I thought too but as no one else had mentioned it I thought my eyes were playing tricks.

Came off a Leeds defender. Leeds appealed for offside and the Lino gave it. Academic now but could have changed the game. Richie was unlucky with that curler. I'd have Theo working on taking down balls from the air and keeping volleys down this week.

Did Kenny get a touch ? Their defender patted him as if in thanks

I've watched it on I player several time now (Football League Show) and it's impossible to tell on their coverage, so unless someone has seen a different replay to that, I'm afraid you're all guessing.

My understanding of the offside rule is that it is decided on when the ball is played, and if a defending player deflects the ball (ie doesn't bring it under control), then the offside positions still count from when the ball was initially played.

In this case it was a deflection (not controlled) and so whether Theo was offside or not depends on where he was when the ball was played to him by Macheda. The deflection has no bearing on it.

Amazes me people complaining about a late flag. I would sooner see an official get the decision correct and if that takes a few seconds longer then so be it. Furman was rightly booked in my opinion. He clattered the Leeds lad and Dowd waiting for him to get up and back on the field of play before booking him. Sometimes I wish people would take off their (we are so hard done by glasses).

My initial thought was that Robbo was offside and this Shot just about confirms it.

Macheda as just played the ball in a fraction earlier and as the video widens there is only 1 more Leeds player involved and he looks like he was just about playing Robbo offside.
Not conclusive though.  :)

PD clams that their RB played him on. And that still is not when the ball is played... Either way, it's done now. The buggers.

watch the video from 43 secs in , i would say their RB is running back and is isn't playing Robbo onside IMO.  :)

There's late flags and there's the one on Saturday, which was so late that we'd nearly kicked off again. I appreciate that sometimes you get a late flag when an assistant isn't sure if the player who is offside is going to become active, but as Robinson was the only player who was in the active area, there was no excuse. The flag should have gone up as soon as he touched the ball. I suspect we would then have just accepted that he was offside.

As for the Furman card, if it was for the tackle then I have no complaints.

If it was 3-0 in the mail, surely it finished differently.

Dickov said:
"I've had the benefit of replaying the incident about 20 times on the video and Theo is clearly a yard on side.

Really... well Paul I've had the Benefit or replaying the incident 200 times on the video and i can't see where Theo is remotely a yard onside.

Unless he has a different camera angle which I doubt, it's impossible to know either way.

The whole point of the argument is not whether it was off-side or not, it is why the linesman obviously didn't think it was when Robinson scored, but decided it was afterwards, following intimidation from the away crowd behind him.
