What's all the fuss about Christmas games.
« on December 29, 2013, 06:14:58 pm by newyankee »

Why are we being duped by newspaper and TV pundits about the Christmas and New Year programme?  All we here is how many games come in a short space of time.  Let's look at the rest of the season.

We start and go through the beginning with games on Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday and Tuesday. We then get a break and again play on Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday and Tuesday again. The teams in Europe are even worse as they play twice a week but have a lot more travelling to do.

When we come to The time after Christmas we get League games, Cup games, postponed games which have to be re scheduled.

What is the fuss all about. In the old days if Christmas fell on a Wednesday you would play Saturday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, New Year's day and again on the Saturday. This was when players were nowhere near as fit as they are today.

It seems to me we wrap footballers up in too much cotton wool these days. Oh, and yes, what about the times where Cup game replays were played within three days and in  some casers went into four and five games?

Its what they are paid to do it, and im sure they'll be happy having more games with it meaning more wages?. I dont see a problem with it, if we stopped playing over christmas people would complain they are bored like on international weeks.

Well no not really considering they're paid per week (or at least, wages don't count how many matches they play).

f**k me, if only someone had told Brooker's agent that was how it was done...

They obviously get more for the more they play. They'll have there their weekly wage + bonus amount for; Appearance, Clean Sheet, Scoring, Winning, ect. So the more games they play the more they earn.
