Foul/tackle on Robinson by last Millwall defender
« on December 29, 2013, 08:22:09 pm by bobjimwilly »
What did everyone make of the tackle/foul on Robinson when he was 1 on 1 with the last millwall defender? looked like he was pulled down to me, which would have meant a certain red card for them and a great position for a free kick for us?

On Player they were bemused how the ref (and Lino presumably) missed it entirely.

You can't even say the ref missed it, as he clearly waved it away.  Strange, but he didn't then see it as simulation by Theo.

IMHO, I generally thought the officials were very poor today.  However, despite our push towards the end of the game, we just didn't create enough going forward.

and then look at this refs record with us 1 win  6 losses and now 1 draw 9 (taken from rate a ref section) I've not looked at the games he's reffed so maybe we deserved to lose but purely as stats.....strikes me he just don't like us

As I said on Player, it was a clear foul and in the end should have been a red card as well. All the ref has to ask is "Robinson has pace and is past the defender...why would he go down?"

The defender didn't make much contact BUT enough to impede Robinson and that should have been enough to warrant a red. Without the foul I thought Robinson would have got to the ball. The ref seemed to look over the the linesman first an then just decided to make no decision.

Poor decision to book Furman for a 50/50 and they got away with far worse.

Their defender never made any contact from the waist down , but he had a hand full of Robbo's Shirt.

I had a great view of the foul, and still can not believe the ref gave nothing, as said above , he held his shirt for a good few yards and was the last man. The ref must  have noticed how theo looked like he was running in treacle, shocking by the ref, who had a clear view and by the Lino.

The East Stand lino was in a perfect position to see the pulling on Robinson but showed all afternoon that he wasn't capable of making a decision. I thought the ref was poor but in this instance I think he was looking for the flag (he was behind the play and so wouldn't have had as good a view) and so I can understand why he didn't give anything.

That lino put his flag up every time a defender appealed for offside.

Just seen the replay of it. It's a free kick and a red. Horrific decision. Would have still ended 0-0 though probably!

It all smacked of match fixing by the officials to me & needs looking into. I'm deadly serious.

Just lack of bottle to make big decisions. Shirt pulling goes unnoticed for some reason by many refs.

t was almost a carbon copy of Lewis Guy Guy Guy at Barnsley when a certain D Moore pulled him back with the exception that THAT Ref have the b***s to give that one against the home side

In general though Refs are decidedly worse now OR is it still they get one look. Example Rooney kicking Jordan Mutch recently ... for me a Red. Rooney tackling Huddlestone against Hull the other day from behind ... for me a Yellow. Rooney got away with both. Are they just afraid to give decisions against the "big" Teams

...and Liverpool the other day v Man City when their Player was given offside when 3 yards on and making a perfectly timed his run. Lino should have been OFF for DOGSO

That was a poor decision by the Lino. Irrelevant though as Bambi wouldn't have done anything with the ball at his feet.

It felt like we had been given the less talented officials for what was probably one of the unattractive fixtures of the day. I've heard before that officials review the games afterwards; do you think he could honestly look at that on tape and think "yup, made the right call there"?  :headbang:

The assessor, a chap called John Jones, ended up doing the 4th official job as the scheduled 4th (Mr Bull) wasn't present for whatever reason. It's a pity, because the quite appalling assistant on the East Stand side needed marking down for several very bad calls, the Robinson one being the worst.

I presume the still GazLaz has posted is of the Peterson offside. That wasn't the only one he called wrong.

Just watched the hold on Theo. how the camera can pick it up from the other side of the pitch and slightly behind and the lino nearer to it cannot see it is clearly a foul AND a red is beyond me.

Bent w**ker.

Another thing that doesn't work in our favour is the non-partisan crowd at the Keepmoat. I'm very passionate and vocal when I go to the Rovers, much to the embarassment of my girlfriend, at the Ipswich game, at the peak of my frustration, I stood up and unleashed a tirade of abuse at the ref after the Ipswich defender had got away without a booking for a quite blatent  professional foul on Theo, how the ref could not book him was totally beyond me! The looks from the people in front of me was of disapproval and disgust, I thought I'd just sworn at church or even Castle Park.
Now I'm not encouraging abusing the officials/opposition but at any other Championship ground the officials would have felt pressure from the crowd to book that player, give that freekick, penalty etc. I feel we're becoming a bit of a soft touch, teams must love coming to the Keepmoat at the minute, playing against 9 stone defenders, nice facilities, non partisan crowd etc! How I wish we could get em back to Belle Vue, showers not working, Colin Sutherland kicking lumps out the opposition and the Popside in full voice!

You are right ... one or two dissenters get nowhere but with a collective effort as in the old days it may have made some differences this Season

I am not saying I want the Ref / Lino to favour us with wrong decisions just that they have in the back of their minds that we want justice and at least think about what they are about to decide !

Everyone knows the phrase " homers" and we need to get nearer to that "status" than we probably are now

You never know ... he might have taken the ball on and beat defenders for pace ... rounded the keeper and got brought down well inside the box ... DOGSO ... and THEN the bent Officials could have denied us a Penalty too !

The other point to be made is Millwall are down in the scrap with us; if they lost a centre back for two games, it may have give us more chance to leapfrog them in the table. The ref bottling it on that one decision may have major repercussions on the relegation battle...
