Just got a full series of the Still Open All Hours christmas special, great news for the town.

Shame that the BBC dont know we are a town.

"The new series will continue to be written by Roy Clarke, who based the show in his home city of Doncaster. "

Well, at least they got it wrong in the right direction.  It'd have been a bit worse if they'd called Donny a village!

It has some potential. Some of the customers weren't bad, Jonny Vegas in particular.

I think Roy Clarke has made a mistake in trying to recreate Granville in the mold of Arkwright.

When you look at series like Summer Wine and Keeping Up Appearances, these days Clarke has a tendency to become very lazy in his writing and recycles lots of old jokes and situations. I'm not that optimistic.

It did feel like he was trying to cram as many old characters and scenarios into half an hour at the expense of a story in case it didn't get a new series. That did spoil it a bit.

Hopefully with new episodes there'll be underlying stories there.

I did not think that they were doing any more !  Thought the "failed" one-off had scuttled the idea

As Samuel Goldwyn once said "include me OUT"
