My view on the game whilst on the train back
« on March 01, 2014, 05:55:55 pm by hifi76 »
Well I can only start with awful. Tactically outclassed from the first minute. The change of formation to 4 3 3 didn't work. Bournemouth could have been 3 up from training ground corners before they took the lead. First half their two centre midfielders played just in front of the back four mopping everything up, enabling their strikers and wingers to attack at will. We did not compete for balls, didn't attempt to take players on, movement was lacking. However bad we were they were as good. Kermorgant scored two great headers, Grabban had Meite in his pocket and their two wingers skinned us at will. The only positive was Johnstone's saves keeping the score down.At least those around us  had similar results and Yeovil's point was at the expense of 3 suspensions.  We can only improve next week. With our away record being so bad, our home form is all that can keep us up. Heres hoping for a lot of improvement

Does not make any difference what tactics you use when your lacking pace through the team any team running at you with the ball your going to struggle.

Our lack of PACE has been highlighted many a times on here. It doesnt seem to have been addressed unfortunately.

Bournemouth were fantastic today. Lets not take anything away from them. They had the lot. Stunning belief, they fought for everything and especially in the first half attacked at breakneck speed and in waves. Great to watch.

Bournemouth were good, but we also made them look good... Fans said (and I quote): "Worst team we've played this season." That's the problem...

On today's performance, I would say a League Two would have beaten us.

If we played a minute and half of Championship quality football then I would be amazed. It was that bad... We barely strung more than two passes together. Mebbe at the end of the first half - in the last minute when we kept the ball for, I think, 5 or 6 passes. Feeble isn't the word. Second to every ball, a keeper that couldn't kick a ball (but saved us from being a MUCH worse result) - yadda, yadda, yadda.

It was a total car wreck.

Other fans have said were the best team they've played this season, did that mean we thought we were gonna win the league.

I was just commenting on today's performance, which was unimaginably awful. The next game is another matter...

I have no issues whatsoever with us being beaten by a better team. We know we're not great at this level. Only Yeovil has lost more games than us, 18 to our 17 I think. What I find unacceptable is a lack of effort. It seems from all the reports today that no-one gave a toss.

Aside from Johnstone, not one player appeared to give a frig. I said I feared a defeat before the game, but the manner of the defeat (and not the scoreline) is what numbed me the most. It was shocking.
