The summer

Time for a rest after a hard season and to regroup.

Who's needed to help push for promotion next season? Will Sharp drop down a division if we can afford him? Is it now his level? No doubt Wellens will be off now so a strong young midfielder needs to be found.

Disappointed to go down but onwards and upwards. Some very decent games to come next season.

Didn't Wellens sign a 18 month contract in January?

Unless there was some sort of clause stating we'd let him go if we go down I can't see anyone else coming in and paying money for him. He's at that age where if you can take him on a free sure but to pay money for would be a bad idea

Just hope all the major decisions are made early and we can build over the summer for an assault on League 1.

So, who are the 13 contracted players?

By my reckoning, under contract players are:

Quinn
Husband
Furman
Jones
Duffy
Brown
McCullough
Wellens
De Val
Robinson
Bennett
Forrester

Thought Quinn only got a year extension, and I'm sure Brown is out of contract

Quinn and Brown both signed 2 year deals last summer.

EDIT: Evidence below...

Quinn: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23478537
Brown: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23232010

So they will both be under contract unless they have a relegation clause or something similar. But I would assume Dickov knows how many under-contract players he has, so 13 should be about right.

I doubt he's counting the youth lads or the 1st/2nd year pro's.

Yep, just completing the picture there. I wonder who the lucky 13th is then? Dickov polishing his boots perhaps?

For me taking into account who I think would stay, who I would keep and who I would play i think only the following will be in the first 11

                 ???

Quinn  ??? McCullough  ???

             Keagan

????    ?????  Wellens  Duffy

              Forrester

           Brown Robinson

Plenty of rebuilding to do.

At least two of those ???? need to be from planet invisible ;) Nice try though.

I'd say Jones/Wakefield/McCombe/Husband would complete a very good defence.

de Val, Copps and possibly Cotts would be a very good midfield. I hope we keep Finnegan too.

Up front would be good to have someone else for sure, someone in the mould of Sharp, and the keeper position is crucial - I still think we have half a chance of keeping Turnbull.

With that set up, we have versatility and class.

Is rob Jones still under contract?
Can't recall him signing a new one?
But he is unlikely to ever play again

He signed a new deal before the Brentford game last season. One year extension to 2015.

That would be a two year contract ie 2013-2015

He will be out of contract now

No. It's 2014 now. His contract ends in 2015 because he extended it last season.

Tried to do something similar on my way home.

First XI:
New Goalkeeper
Quinn  Jones  McCombe  Husband
Keegan
Furman  Wellens
Duffy                           Forrester
Brown

Back up XI:
Maxted
New right back
McCullough
Wakefield
Finnegan
New right winger - preferably Coppinger but he's obviously capable of playing in the Championship
New attacking central midfielder
De Val
New left midfielder
Robinson
Peterson

We look strong in all areas apart from keeper really. This squad coming down is stronger than what came down last time.  Hope we re sign Billy P! Brown, Robinson and Paynter is very good

Can't see Paynter staying even if we wanted him to. After Dickov binned him off from day one, he'll probably tell him to shove his contract up his arse.
