I think Statton might just be assuming Tamas and Miete are not being offered deals, no where does it say they aren't being offered deals, we can only release details of players contracted to us up to 30th June, Tams and Miete are already free agents, we may well be talking to them now

Could it be that because DRFC knew the wages/demands when they signed Tamas and Meite, that they knew they couldn't offer them similar terms this term? hence no contract offer, can't see them playing for £2k a week can you?
I don't have a big issue with release clauses. It can work both ways, if we need to reduce the wage bill. I would still rather keep Wellens, Quinn etc but I don't have a real issue if they go - it would be disappointing but understandable.

We don't want to find that on the eve of the season that three or four players suddenly accept offers from other clubs and we're left fielding a scratch side in the opening game. If there's a cut-off of the end of June, when the out-of-contract players contracts will also expire, then at least we'll know where we are before the season starts.

It will be interesting how many non-contracted players and the release clause players will sign for Mr Dickov. His track record in league 1 is poor and the way his tactics in the last seven games especially got us relegated does not bode well.

More likely because they are offered more money and/or a higher level of football.
I think PD did remakably well to get the players in he did last season and don't doubt he will get others to replace Johnstone , Tamas, Meite ..

Yes he did as I said above he was given the resources to do that. Yet having said he was happy where we were and it was in our hands, he failed. I hope he is happy with the core he will have, but with eight players out of contract and rumoured eight players with release clauses he will have to show all his ability to resign, hold on to and obtain players. If he does then he will have to show he CAN get the best out of them to bounce straight back.
But its the manager who picks the team Wilts, and has the responsibility of getting them organised. Anyway, all water under the bridge now and like I've said decisions have been made, so we shall have to see what happens. I'll not be holding my breath for next season, though.
