When I were a student, far left politics was a farce. There was the Workers' Revolutionary Party, the Socialist Workers' Party, the Socialist Party of Britain, the Communist Party of Great Britain, the Communist Party of Britain (Marxist-Leninist), the Revolutionary Communist Party of Great Britain, the Revolutionary Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist). There was the National Organisation of Labour Students. There was Socialist Students in the National Organisation of Labour Students. It's why the Life of Brian scene about the Judean People's Front was so apt. A bunch of pillocks agreeing on nearly everything, but concentrating on the tiny doctrinal issues between them and being absolutely incapable of compromise. That was then. This is now. Now, it's grand int it? It's the barm pots on the Right who are setting up splinter-of-splinter-of-splinter parties, separating themselves from each other on such vital issues of ideology as whether floods are God's judgement against sodomy. http://m.huffpost.com/uk/entry/5365779/Choose which one you'd like to vote for to give the Establishment a kicking.
