Keepmoat stadium branding
« on May 24, 2014, 11:32:15 am by Boomstick »
When's the stadium going to be roverised? I.e painting of the exterior corners and interior concourses?

I Agree it's never felt like our home since we moved to it,it does need painting up in the colours of the teams who play there,so Red and white and Blue and Gold for the Dons.
But the situation we are in it won't be seen as a priority Boomstick,i think it has a small part in why the stadium at times feels soulless
Whether it's liked or not there needs to be a singing section, with the drum or whatever it takes to get an atmosphere going, not everybody will join in,but there is a need to make things a bit harder and hostile for opposing teams to come in to.
The noise at some of the grounds puts ours to shame even smaller grounds,we've never been vocally passionate fans but surely something can be done.

It does get embarrassing week after week when away fans take the p*ss about how quiet we are
OBV when I was a kid was very noisy on Pop side (unless it's one of those weird things you always thought were better like wagon wheels)

The interior concourses are being used for the Heritage project so by the time the season kicks off we should have a Doncaster and a DRFC timeline established throughout.

The exterior is on the list and the incentive is there, it's just so damn expensive. So if anybody has any red and white paint to donate!! :-)

Expensive!?!? how is 2 dozen tins of red paint expensive?
Will it get done before the season starts?
Up and down the country, you see stadiums adorned with their clubs identity, except the keepmoat.
It's about time it got given some soul.

It might have sounded loud to anyone in the Pop Stand, but you couldn't hear much of it over in the Main Stand. Whatever noise there may have been would have all gone straight up into the sky. At least the KMS chucks it back towards the pitch.

Really? Specially mixed masonry paint is cheap is it? And as it took two tins to do my bedroom, I very much doubt whether 2 dozen tins will do what you think it will..do you even know how many coats it will need to be fully weather protected, and how long we should expect it to last before it needs redoing?

And how do you think it's going to get up on the walls, all the way up to the roof? I can let you borrow a ladder if you're willing to do it on the cheap, lol. You'll have to fund your own insurance though.

Now we are back in league 1 can we not get a cheap rate from Johnstones paints having won their cup once before.

Or get some of the youth team out to paint the walls as we did in the old days

Tried Johnstones paint once and was not impressed at all and ended up doing a repaint with a superior product. I know a few people who have had a similar experience

Not sure if you have actually been to the keepmoat, but the corners are metal cladding.
It won't be THAT expensive, certainly less than 1 players weekly wage.
It's about time Rovers spent some money, other than on players.

They still need painting though, according to you. Very first line of this thread.

I think it's fair to say the club want to continue to improve the stadium. As S_M says the concources will see further improvement with the Heritage project. I'm no different and would love to see the exterior rescued from the blandness. I hope something may be done with the help of the sponsors, for example Polypipe contributing to the sprucing up of the South Stand. As said though these things need to be done right so some of the work won't be cheap.

They were done for identification purposes. Police reasons were quoted,  but also the idea was to colour code the tickets to aid supporters to find the correct entrance.

Maybe Keepmoat could provide the paint as they are the stadium sponsors,if not use red and white posters similar to the player posters around the outside but just hoops.
Not a priority at the minute i admit, getting a good side on pitch is priority.

You're all joking aren't you I'm still waiting for them to replace the bedraggled flags on the flagpoles.
Flags bearing the club's logo should NEVER get in that state !!

High time that those in charge of the site did a proper " site walk". It' s little things like this that matter and add up to whether folk arrive and leave the stadium with the right impression

The hand dryer in the Bell vue bar was knackered for 2 seasons.
It's repaired now as it's been replaced by a hand towel dispenser
If you can't be bothered or find yourself unable to fix a problem then go for the cheap option !

Hoola spot on,the little things do matter, the flag is representative of the club,if there's no pride shown in that, then the standards aren't good enough, the flag should be pristine, flown loud and proud.
Money is a big problem, but doing the little things like that do matter, the catering needs to be done in house, instead contracting it out,it doesn't have to be fancy food, nobody expect cordon bleu,Burgers that taste like the one's outside the ground.
Toilets that are clean, concourses with photographs, colours of the team,if the paints too expensive poster it all with plastic sheets over it.
Have staff that know about the things they sell, friendliness always, welcoming to guests, but make them go away and say, they might not have big crowds but they get behind the team, make opposing teams not want to come to the ground through results, the fans making it really hostile for them without being stupid.

The club need to show it's not only the Executive boxes that are valued,a free printed t-shirt on each seat first game of the season, meal deals that are good value.
Advertise something like the Lord Kitchener war poster,Your Town's team needs you, underneath a stirring poem about why the club needs new support.
Make the shirts affordable 30-35 quid is fair, make sure the club shop stocks more of the bigger sizes, instead of Babbie size that fit nobody who goes.
Lay on free coaches to the pre season away games, and advertise that your doing it.
Do a club mail order catalogue so supporters can buy team wear on a say fiver a week basis.
Get some club merchandise stocked in Sports shops in town, get local taxi's to have Follow the Rovers stickers in the back window.

Post of the pre-season already.
Stadium management and staff should be made to read this and then swear allegiance to the cause :)

Funny that Mike_F, I have been reading it with a certain amount of amusement. Those that reckon it won't cost much makes me smile. It has been muted in the past, but alas we are not a charity and the days, pre-recession, when we did things for now't have sadly gone.

As for the concourses, as I've pointed out in the past, again not a cheap job, very labour intensive and once you begin to paint something you have to keep painting the bloomin' thing every couple of years thus adding another cost to your dwindling budget.

Our lass always says things like, 'Why don't we .....?' and 'I would like....'. It's easy for her she doesn't have to pay for it.  :(

As I've already posted earlier in this thread the concourses are being done right now as part of the Heritage project, you may be pleasantly surprised! And there are a number of items on the list, the exterior is one of many, but it's all about value for money.

Mike_F

I do keep mentioning sponsorship to him!!
