Took the kids to cleggy last weekend to relieve me of the burden of having a full penny jar...And passed Blundell park...Always enjoyed games there,it reminds me of how football used to be in these old style grounds...Last game I went to there we went out of the jpt the year after we won it...We were robbed but I cant remember the reason why...lol...Im not one for pre season friendlys myself but may just have to make the effort for this one...

Was that the one where our goalie (can't remember if it was Woods) kicked the ball out of his hands and the wind got hold of it and it ended up in our net?  someat like that anyway

Smith saved a pen which was re-taken due to him moving.

Their keeper then came two yards off his line then saved Greeny's pen and the ref allowed it.

Thats the one, but it was Ben Smith in goal.  It was a horrible night weatherwise, with a strong wind blowing right down the ground and horizontal torrential rain.

The game ended 2-2 and went to a penalty shoot out.  Rovers missed one, and Grimsby had to score their last kick to go through, but Smith pushed it onto the post and it bounced away.  The Rovers fans were jubilant, until we all realised the ref had ordered the kick to be taken again for some unknown reason, and Grimsby made no mistake the second time.

That was also the match things got a bit tasty in their main stand after about a thousand more Donny than the away end could hold turned up.  The Grimsby fans didnt take too kindly to beach balls (???) being thrown about in their home end so started popping them which lead to a couple of fists being thrown.

I remember now Rob...The penalty shoot out was a farce..Smith had to be welded to his line and their keeper could do what he wanted...It never helps when you are wet through either...I was going to have a Mcdonalds after the game but decided against it as it was full of Grimsby fans celebrating a famous win and looking for a rumble...One of those nights when the conditions were a leveller and things just went against us...Didn't help that the late finish meant we missed last orders too...lol

Ah yes, I got the order of kicks wrong. As WC says above, complete double standards.

I remember some steward asking me how many coaches we brought, I said I think we have brought over 2000 people, he laughed saying the away end only held 1000 and I must be exagerating the figure.

In the end we had more Donny fans there than Grimsby, was our attempt to retain the JPT
