Just been announced. Sam is NOT in it. At least we have him for the Blunts!

Also means that we were never in with a chance of having the game called off.

End of argument then.

Furman, despite playing decent recently, we can cope without.  But losing a defender for a game that Butler cannot play in, is a worry.

I don't know the prognosis re Evina, but it will make sense to get a defender loanee who can cover CB/LB..?

If Evina isn't fit, I think the best option would be to bring Copps back into the defence at RB, Wakefield at LB and McCombe and Wabara in the middle. Either way we are going to be severely weakened and players will have to play unconventional roles. A major downside to the lack of squad depth here but there isn't too much we can do about it.

Strange, Johnstone gets in the squad when he's not playing regular, but then gets dropped when he starts to play regular and replaced by a previously uncapped player, it doesn't add up to me

Need the whole sheff utd team to get flu overnight before the game or at least the keepers and defence to even it up a bit

Why does there always have to be some kind of conspiracy theory? Whatever happened to taking things at face value?

Maybe it was requested that he wasn't in the squad due to the fact he is looking like getting a decent run of games in? Despite being in the squad a number of times I don't believe he has ever actually played for the under 21's. At least he'll definitely get a game this weekend now.

I personally am all for us playing the game, I think it's a joke that you can get a game called off just because you have 3 players called up for international duty - in our case one of those 3 who normally gets called up is only our sub keeper anyway! I'd rather just play the games and not end up playing catch up with loads of games in hand to play later in the season when rivals already have points on the board.

The thing is Jenny, that playing for Rovers seems to be a poisoned chalice regarding international recognition among the home countries (Luke McCullough excepted). Cotterill barely got a look in with Wales when here yet has become a regular  since going to Brum - he is doing nothing different. Even Dean Shiels got called up after leaving even though he was playing in the fourth tier of Scottish football. Sam is now playing again - is League 1 any worse than the level at which Man Utd's development team play?

I think it is a joke that we are forced to play a game with a weakened team through no fault of our own. It makes it an uneven playing field when one team has a handicap straight from the start. They don't force Championship or Premiership clubs to play, despite the number of internationals they may not have, so why should League One clubs suffer?

Dickov asked Southgate not to pick him and he agreed. Thankfully for us

That I could understand if Johnstone could not be counted due to him being a loan player, but if he did count he should have been pushing for him to be picked, having said that though, Butler couldn't play against Sheff Utd and Furman hasn't been a regular starter for us, and Given the fact that Luke might be able to play anyway our starting 11 probably wouldn't have been any different anyway

We've got 2 players out due to the internationals, McCullough and Furman, hardly a massive number and not enough to get the game called off even down to the rules anyway. Furman will no doubt miss the next match as well as he'll be knackered after jetting off to wherever South Africa are playing. We knew when we signed him he'd miss loads of games, if South African qualify for the African Cup of Nations he'll probably be gone for a whole month. We also knew when signing Butler he wouldn't be able to play against the Blades.

To be honest I think they should just do what they do in Rugby and Cricket and force the clubs to play whenever there are international matches on, but clearly that's not going to happen in the big money leagues. Either that or move all the international games to a couple of blocks a year and have a full break from domestic games while they get the international matches out of the way rather than all these weekends here and there we keep having. Might make international football a bit more interesting if they just have a 2 week block of qualifying games twice a year and bin off the meaningless friendlies.

The club were pushing for Theo to get called up. There is no conspiracy to have this game played at all costs. Its not a club decision, its the FL's.

I didn't even mention that, or suggested it, I was only expressing surprise that Sam hadn't been selected, especially now he's playing 1st team football, since I posted that PD has confirmed that he requested Sam not to be selected, which answers my original post

You laugh about Robinson, but he will get a goal, then he will have a run of them,he is a very important member of the squad, different style to the other two.
In the Championship he had quite a few good games,i would be tempted to put him in against Weston, hopefully get a goal, and he will be off and running, his confidence is at rock bottom,he just needs a goal, get him started in the cup,it might solve the confidence issue's.

At one point we thought we had a right bargain,he hasn't become a poor player, just the team hasn't given him the service, confidence low,and Dickov has shown next to no faith in him, give him a starting position in the cup.

Apart maybe to encourage more Rovers fans to attend?

Information simple as that

"Sheffield Utd have sold the full allocation of Tickets and fans buying from our ticket office and with no purchase history will be subject to further checks"

Something along that line which has been done before.
