The young Mckays
« on November 19, 2014, 03:54:27 pm by wing commander »
Does anyone know why they weren't in the squad last night...I have to say I'm surprised that we didn't take this opportunity to get some game time in for our younger lads..I understand a strong starting 11 after all it was the FA Cup away on a cold Tuesday night on a sodden non league pitch against a team playing there Cup Final, but at 3-0 the job was done and an ideal time to get them on and who knows maybe score there first confidence boosting goal in the senior side?? Was it Dickov knowing he's on thinnish ice making sure he got the result??? After all if we had lost that he would have been under the spotlight at all levels...

But surely playing some part last night would have been more beneficial than a development game in front of 3 men and a dog???

It isn't a development game tonight, it is the FA Youth Cup and the club wanted them to be part of that - right decision in my opinion. Why weaken the youth team for the sake of a cup game that we should have, and did, easily win without them.

Its not a development game.  Its the FA Youth Cup.  Its a big game for their age group.

dont lets get carried away by pushing these lads too soon it was acknowledge before last night that they would be required for the youth cup match,if they are as good as people think their time will come but the team are struggling at the moment so now is not the time

agree that they were required for the youth game tonight , as for moving them up with the big mesters , Billy was never afraid to put the young  un's in the first team

PD has used youth occasionally. Wakefield's been getting more time this season and cameo appearences from Whitehouse, Lund, Middleton and McKay. They would have to be exceptional to get the nod over a senior pro. I agree, if they're good enough, their time will come.
