Thanks Iberian. I've often wondered about it. Was he winding me up? And if he wasn't, what the dickens was going on?!

Maybe he was out Thorne way rather than Lindholme itself? He went to Thorne Grammar. I've always wondered what he was doing out by Lindholme when he lived in Kirk Sandall. Mind you, he was an adventurous sort of chap and he would have been somewhere upto 15 at the time so I suppose he could have ended up out in the wilds. Still an odd story even if I've misremembered where he was at the time.

Cheers

When the Vulcans were based at Finningly they used to do Cicuits and bumps. This was taking off from Finningly flying around for a while then touching down on Lindholm  runway and taking off again halfway down the runway as Lindholm runway was not long enough to land on. That's what my dad told me anyhow he lived for a while on the Redhouse caravan park next to the old Northern radar which was close to Lindholm

1962 - Would never believe I would find it on YoiuTube !

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sG6pchVDHzU

Thats my video, it was found amongst some old cine film in my Dads possesions when he passed away, it said Lindolme on the box it was in, but according to some of the aviation experts that commented on the video it is in fact Finningley air show

The bloke and the kids in the video are my late Uncle and my cousins, they emigrated to Australia 7 years later

If you look closely at the Vulcan in the video, you'll see that it is XH558 in white livery, the very same Vulcan that is now at Robin Hood airport

Nice clip Filo, have you ever sent it to Vulcan in the sky? I'm sure they would be interested in xh558 in the white livery especially as its the only one left flying

I emailed them about it but never got a reply, feel free to tell them if you like

Thanks for putting those reports up Dave

One name that jumps out at me is Martin Ferguson - old red nose's brother I believe. The following season I think he scored about 18 goals for Barnsley from midfield - and then joined Rovers for our dreadful 1966-7 season - and his confidence went completely and he was truly awful for us. My main memory was of him leaving the field in tears after we lost at home to Darlo by 4-0.

Many thanks from me too, Dave, for posting those match reports. They certainly ignited some wonderful memories from the '60s......the best era of all, bar none!  :)
