BBC weather forecast says there will be above freezing temperatures and sunshine in Peterborough from now right up until kick off. Isn't the received wisdom also that a layer of snow actually insulates the ground slightly keeping the frost off?

Hope it's not another infamous 20 minutes (off) before kick-off job.

I live about a mile from the ground, there is a ground frost and one of the local police who is working the game say it may be called off. I can't personally see it though. They are going to give me an update ASAP so I'll keep you posted

Just checked on Posh's website, nothing there.

Local forecast has Peterborough temperatures rising to 3 degrees today.  There wasn't much (if any) snow on their pitch looking at the webcam.

Here is the shot at 5 pm yesterday http://theposhmedia.com/webcam

Next shot taken around 10 am.

Yeah but the police only have a say on the terraces and the routes leading up to the ground so we will still have to wait for the refs decision regarding the pitch. As we've experienced previously - there is no set procedure for this. What's the weather like there?

Copps, often it is the surrounding areas that are more dangerous to the supporters, than the pitch itself.

I'll check the Posh website after 10 when the next webcam shot is taken.

The weather here (I am about 10 miles north of P-town) is about 0, and the compacted snow is icy.  Yesterday the main roads were clear so they should be today.

Hopefully they have had the covers on the whole of the pitch as it doesn't look like the low sun will get above the stands. Temperatures of 3 degrees will not get rid of the frost with no sunshine on the pitch.

Pitch was covered - there was no frost on it.  Yesterday after all the snow the pitch was green...
