Not the former Rovers striker of the early 80s, but rather the former Yorkshire and England off-spinner. I see he has become the new head coach of Gloucestershire. He's a Donny lad and according to the Cricketers' Who's Who is also a Rovers fan.

He definitely is a Rovers supporter John. He and I chatted about Rovers several times 3 or 4 years back now. In his dying days playing for Gloucestershire Richard did some coaching alongside an ex Gloucs fast bowler called Damian Forder. Alex spent some time with the pair of them.
Richard's unbelievably tall. A nice guy.

His brother Gareth made me captain at Doncaster Town under 13s. Richard came down to one or two training sessions and as a keeper who bowled occasional spin that was fantastic for me! Great pair of blokes.
Remember he went from playing for Town to England in no time at all, and back almost as quickly. Best of luck to him in coaching, hope he sustains his career at the top for a little while longer than he played there.
